I'm so very unhappy to have to report that Mike Hall - the 'glue' who held Keith Duckworth, Mike Costin and Cosworth together in the 1970s and 1980s - died yesterday.

Among his many achievements was personal responsibility for the Ford-Cosworth BDA engine, and for other notable road car designs including the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 power unit.

Very sorry to hear this. Mike Costin gave our club a talk last year in which he spoke in glowing terms about Mike Hall and his achievements. RIP.

Mike was a real stalwart amongst racing engine design engineers, spending many years at both BRM and Cosworth.  More sad news.  Sincere condolences to his family and many friends.

A Cosworth man through and through.

RIP Mr Hall, I read with interest in AAGR's Search for Power book that Mike also took on the job of finishing  the YB-Sierra engine design work after Mario Ilien left to set up Ilmor.

Does anyone know how old Mike Hall was? Or even his birth date?

I would like to complete his entry in the "Gone but not forgotten" thread.
