Please, help.
Motor Sport (1959 January) says:
"The Sebring organisers are seeking to postpone the first American Formula 1 Grand Prix until November or December."
When was the original date?
Thanks.

Interestingly, to me at least, in "The United States Grand Prix and Grand Prize Races, 1908-1977" (Nye) it says that the postponement from its intended slot (from championship 'opener', to 'finale') was triggered by the unpreparedness of a number of teams building new cars, rather than any problems with the venue itself.

The weekend of the 12 hours.
Indeed. The original plan was apparently a double-header. Sports cars on Saturday, GP on Sunday.

Autosport said that it was Aston Martin, BRM and Scarab whose unpreparedness caused the postponement. None of them entered in December.

Scarab did not appear until 1960.Same problem in 1966 when south African GP was dowmgraded to non championship because teams were not ready. At the the time I remember 1959-60 F.Libre race at Watkins Glen provided a better result to me anyway a win for Stirling Moss in his F1 car.
