Thanks - much appreciated  . About two thirds are on display in a 4-tier case, which I will try and do justice of with a photo. The other third (mainly the test variants) are living in a drawer at the moment in individual cases .... persuasion continues.

In the meantime, here's another one I chanced on having been previously unaware. In October 1970, Lauda attended the launch of the new Formula Super Vee Kaimann at Aspern, and had a brief demo run in the car for his old team....

I'm a bit embarrassed with some of the images, since as the photos are larger than the models, they show up all the deficiencies in stark close up !

A great collection Jon. Could I send you a PM with details of a couple of events/tests Lauda attended which you may be interested in?

Yes please - that would be great! Always interested in ones I didn't know about....

There are a couple of additions I've made since the last image uploads which I need to get around to posting, and also a couple of corrections yet to be made (notably the Ferrari 312T2 used in 1976 Swedish GP practice and the 1973 end-of-season trophy Capri) that I need to rebuild. Not sure I will ever fully compete this project.....

Thanks for that - have just put in my order yesterday. Needs a bit of detail (and decal) work, but a nice shape to work with.

It means that I will probably now re-work my own Kaimann Mk 4 scratch build into either the Goffinet Austro he tested at Zolder in 1969 or the Marko MAHAG-Olympic he tried in practice at the Norising in 1970. It'll give me something to do, I suppose  :drunk:

Jon, you've done a great job and tribute,  it will mean all the more to you now !

As asked in post #51 above, it would be possible to see a photo of all the cars together ?

Michael, in Canada

Hi Jon, that's an impressive collection that you've created.

These drawings of parts of March racing cars that Niki Lauda drove may be of interest to you:

Sorry chaps - just revisited this thread after a few months having forgotten to load an "alert' on it. Thank you for posting the drawings - they are truly impressive, but probably of greater value to a better modeller than me (see some of the awesome 1:12 scale models elsewhere on this site).

Michael - I promise I WILL get around to posting a photo of the collection as it currently stands - I have been rather occupied with the book over the last 6 months, but should now start to have some time to start building the remaining ones.

Starting with the first race, of course - Mini Cooper 1300S Bad Mullacken Hillclimb 15/4/1968

Bumping this out of curiosity - Jon's finished book has Niki's first event being in a Mini numbered 128 (with a photo of the car and of the relevant portion of the race programme as fairly convincing proof).

Does that mean that the Mini in the photo in To Hell and Back (numbered 158 as per the model above) was not actually Lauda at all?

Absolutely the case; the photo of the Mini in “To Hell And Back” isn’t Niki or his car. The model of the late season 1973 Capri is wrong too. Both are on the list for replacement as soon as I get round to it, along with a couple of other omissions; a bit busy with the writing at the moment!
