Its that time of year when the Sunday Times print the UK's Rich List 2001. And Britian being the centre of the F1 world (;) ) various F1 related peeps make it. So heres a list of all the motorsport (plus one road car and one dating Flavio) people I can find in the list:

Tom Walkinshaw £170,000,000

Ron Dennis £160,000,000

Guy Hands (Rockingham Fan & Investor)£128,000,000

I remember reading about Jackie Stewart holding out for the astronomical figure of 20,000 U.S. for his last year of racing (1973). Seems Scottish frugality does pay off ;). No surprise Bernie leads the pack by a factor of 20 (positively OBSCENELY rich), but where is Ron Dennis???.

TWR operations work in all branches of motorsport - they produced designs for the likes of Jaguar, Nissan, Volvo and even Porsche. Arrows team is a small portion of TW empire.

last year MS was the highest paid athlete in the world, he earned in excell of 60 million US.

At the 97 Montreal Grand Prix, Michael stopped over at Canadair and bought himself a Challenger jet for a cool 15 milUS.

But overall Schumacer si the richest sportsman in the World.

Tiger can't keep winning at this rate.

Oh, it's a British list (that explains it).

For a cranky old bugger, TW does alright for himself.

That is the UK's rich-list, so naturally MS is not in it, unless he madly decided yesterday to domicile himself there and pay loads more taxes than he does in Monaco (I think).

Althhough in a copy of one of last years F1 Racing magazine, they did rank F1 personalities; wealth in an European context. Of course Bernie E was top, but MS very very near the top.

Why doesn't he just give me 0.5% of his large collection of Euros???

Ali_g, 'Tiger can't keep winning at this rate.' Yeah? And he is still only 24. His earnings (winnings and endorsement deals) alone probably exceed 99.9% of the world's sports professionals put together, and he will only keep at it. Golf tournaments (especially the prestigious ones) give out lots of prize money, exhibition tournaments generate lots of income for him too (Australia are trying to lure him here but need to raise his mandatory US$1.7m appearance fee, and that's for a couple of days, and he'd get that even if he triple bogyed every damned hole).

From an endorsement point of view, there are many reasons why he is worth much more than M Schumacher as well. That phenomenal young man, he truly is one SOB!!!!!

Right, MS is understood to have made more than Tiger in 2000.

Just out of curiousity, where would some bike riders compare in anual salary to F-1 drivers? How well off is Foggy?

I read in Motorcycle News during his last championship year, that Foggy had a $1.6m contract with Ducati for that season.

But this figure is peanuts compared to his endorsements, which are said to be worth $5m per year.

I can already confirm that MS will not be the richest sportsman in 2002, even if he wins another WDC. When he'll return next season, money will litteraly grows on Michael Jordan's trees.

Yes, and rightly so.

After all its the most dangerous sport in the world.

More people die playing golf than in any other sport.

Also quite a few die of boredom watching it as well ...

Actually I almost killed my partner last time I played golf. So yes, it is quite dangerous, but more secure than playing chess.
