My name is Alex Shore. I am a photographer and filmmaker based in Bristol. I am also the half brother of Kara Birrell, Gerry Birrell's daughter.

We have just started the process of filming documentary about Gerry and are looking for any memorabilia and footage of Gerry racing.

Its looking likely that Kara will be driven up the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year in one of her fathers Capri's by Jochen Mass. We thought it would be a great opportunity to tell Gerry's story along with filming this amazing experience for Kara.

If anyone has anything that might be of interest then we would be extremely grateful.

You can get in touch with me on here or my email is alex (at) alexshore.co.uk.

Thank you very much.

Alex

Hi Alex.

There are a slot car of Gerry and Jochen, made by Flyslot, the Chevron of the 3 Hours Lourenço Marques 1972. That year Gerry won the Springbok Series in South Africa.

In the slot car Gerry is represented driving.

Alex I assume you are aware that Gerry's last race was a one make race for fords just down the road from you at Castle Combe, the weekend before his accident. Could Castle Combe provide a backdrop for your film?

Actually I wasn't aware of that and mum and I will be at the HSCC Meeting there on Sunday.

One of the things we are hoping to film later on if we can organise a track and hopefully the permission from the owner is for Jochen Mass to teach my sister to drive the Capri if possible. Although we know this depends on a large number of factors. Castle Combe would be a fantastic backdrop to that part of the film!
