Starting in 1979, the F.I.S.A Trophy championship ran for pre-60 sports and racing cars up to 1450cc. In 1984 the date was extended to 1963. Further change occurred in 1990 when .the FIA split sports car from single-seaters with the F.I.S.A Trophy for the latter. As a consequence the vast majority of the grid comprised Formula Juniors and it became a Formula Junior championship in all but name. From 1995 this was supplanted by the Lurani Trophy.
