I'm absolutely positive there was some discussion about a current F1 driver (maybe Button) being on here, about 2010 or so.
There are probably dozens of former racers of all levels of notoriety in TNF.

And not hiding himself very well?
Sorry, just a Finnish fan here who thought picking Rosberg as an avatar (and nickname) was appropriate for F1 related forum. I'm not Keke.
...or am I?

That's exactly what the Swedish former racing driver Keke would say!!

Currently +10sec/lap off the pace in iRacing, let me die in peace please.
That was my performance at South Boston, so things could always be worse.

I got my balls busted last year for referring that the McLaren drivers were complaining too much about he Mp4/30. I always suspected it could be Button or someone close to him. The poster took great offense imo. He did make my ignore list so it was a win- win.
Why would a driver reveal themselves? Why not put some of the theories to rest with solid, true insider info and shut us racing nerds up anonymously? This way they could continue the truth hidden behind a false cover. Perfect, no?
i am confused by your post.
I would think just the opposite. Why would any of them want all us internet experts who may have actually seen one or two Formula One races, probably on the TEEEVEEE or maybe actually seen one in person, telling them what they ought to be doing?
Actually, it may have happened to you with Mr. Button himself, in person, as you seemed to indicate in your post. And then you state something about "win-win" because he made your ignore list.?
Methinks that you present the perfect example as to why a driver would not jump out of the closet or even want it suspected about his secretly posting without revealing his true identity..
Unless you are trying to say that if you had only known it was Button, then you would have picked up your balls if you could have found them and kissed his buttocks?
Or put him on the ignore list anyway, because he did not know what he was talking about?

The win-win is I don't have to read him, (win for me), and he doesn't have to read any of my replies about him (his win). Get it?
I'm probably grasping at straws ,but by his post I must've hit a nerve. Maybe not. I thought my point was legitimate.
I know no poster name dropping, but his post name is suspiciously close to yours. Hmmmm......
And if that's you Jens, I always thought Bruno Junqueira should've got the Williams drive in '00.

All i have to say is that when it came to driving faster, busting balls and the important buttocks, I was born with more than the rest of you and then some. The rest is history and the jealousy of those who weren't good enough and too ignorant to know it.
Posted 20 April 2016 - 00:21
Besides you were not at the test in Spain. Unless you are really Frank and still not over the subsequent history...................
Who else would so inclined to put a famous racing driver on their ignore list and then brag about it?
Hummmmmmmmm.

Considering how many members therte are on this forum, and how many of them have zero posts, I think it is certain that some of the major players read this forum. Probably not that many current drivers as such, but up and coming ones, ex-drivers, engineers, team management, possibly owners and principles on occasion. Frankly, I suspect that Bernie and Max have perused this place from time to time. But almost all of them anonymously and silently.

I reckon there is 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001% chance Bernie has ever read a F1 forum

I'd say that most all current drivers in any top level racing category are too busy to be reading and posting on forums like this. They may have before they reached to top level, and they may again after they retire from the top level. But, spending time in online forums is what your family is for...

How did you find out that you were Pastor? And did it come as a dreadful shock?
I kept inexplicably crashing in to things. I had to deep-dive the issue...and there you go.

I wouldn't make the automatic assumption that all racers are racing fans. There are quite a lot of drivers in F1 alone who have little or no idea of the sport before they came along. I'd offer Nico Hulkenberg as a prime example, after picking the number 27 for his time in F1, he had no idea of the historical significance of it and that is, relatively, recent F1 history. I doubt some of the younger ones would even know any of the less recent champion drivers and would certainly struggle to identify the likes of Gilles Villeneuve, Ronnie Peterson or Dan Gurney, as examples. In fact, the lack of interest on the part of some of the younger drivers in the history of the sport they are involved in is quite shocking at times.
As for racing drivers on here, there are, or have been quite a lot over the years. Especially in the Nostalgia Forum.
I don't think that means for a second Hulkenberg isn't a fan. He's younger than me, and if I'm being honest what does the #27 mean to me? Casey Stoner is the first thing that comes to my mind. I'm aware of Gilles and the history of Ferrari; I could probably write a good few hundred words on his career, I'm aware what he meant to people, but he was before my time and I'd be flat out lying if I said I held him in much reverence, because I never saw him live. I sort of remember that the Ferraris still ran 27 and 28 until 1996; Alesi is the last driver I remember using that number in a Ferrari. I think Nico is probably a good example of a driver who's got a real love for motorsport, otherwise why would he do Le Mans as well as a full season of F1?
I get the point though, and you do get a few. Tom Sykes I think it is has been quoted as saying that he's not a motorcycling fan at all; he doesn't ride for fun and doesn't have a bike himself, he just drives cars. Racing is his job. There will be a few who fall into that category. I always remember David Batty being the same in football - no interest in football as a fan, his passion was/is motorbikes, doesn't really support a club, just his job. I think they'll be a bit of a minority though.

I don't expect any current drivers posting here. It would be a pointless waste of time for them to fight with the armies of fanboys.
Probably some of them have visited forums, but couldn't be bothered to stay long!
I can understand some drivers, who have retired a long time ago, may pop up and write something. Now that their careers are over, they want to share some stories and insights of what was happening. So some posting on Nostalgia Forum or wherever makes sense. But those ex-drivers are also mostly interested in intelligent discussion only, and not in "modern fan-wars".

Dear Sato-san,
You clearly haven't read the IndyCar threads then.
Kind regards

Yes,and Buford was savaged by the likes of fines to the extent that he, (Buford), no longer posts.
"Savaged"? More like "pestered out of florid ignorance."
Buford handled that kinda thing with style and verve.
The reasons why he no longer posts are probably more line with the reasons that other veterans of Readers Comments (as it was known previously) no longer do, or do so rarely.
Pretty sure he'd like Risil's IndyCar threads, though.
Apart from that, hope he's OK and still lurking somewhere, as he used to.

Those that can't...we'll see ya in here.
D'ya reckon if we can get SIK Karting to find Autosport a spot over the weekend we could get Ross down the 79 miles or whatever to the #100thIndy ?
Jp
Didn't realise I'd been offered a ride. Do you reckon they'd let me camp overnight?
