Good morning dear Fans,

please, I am a big a fan of Gerhard Mitter, and on many places is to read that for the Worldchampionship race on Sierra Montagna-Crans (28.08.1966.)

Mitter drove new Porsche 910-002 (Hans Herrmann's car was 910-001), but, also, many sources say it was again his car called Ollon Villar from 1965. (906-010), but according the rules for 1966. with coupe body.

For an explination I am very thankful.

Best regards,

Nikola (Belgrade, Serbia)

Well, I have checked the obvious sources and that doesn't help much, I'm afraid. Time and Two Seats lists the 910-002. Porsche 904 and 906 books (both J. Barth) show 904 with chassis number 906-010. However, in the 906 book, it is mentioned (with picture) that this car now looks just like when it won at Trento-Bondone, including its start number 112, yet this race was before Sierre-Crans. So either the car has been put back into that livery, or it hasn't been used after that date.
Indeed the car had (and still has) a coupé body looking like a 906 but not quite the same.

I hope this link will work. This picture claims to be the Sierre-Crans-Montana hillclimb in 1966. Although it is small, the starting number looks like (186)
It is obvious that this car is not the same as the 904 bergspyder (906-010) as pictured in the 906 book. Doors, headlights, air inlets are all clearly different
It may be described in the caption as the coupé on the 904 basis, but for me this is a 910.
The picture is also available at the Zwischengas forum, but for a larger version, you have to pay.

This is what the 906-010 looked like in 1966. See second post by TonyVitag, 5th picture

Hello Mr.Henk Vasmel,

I am so thankful to you. Many many, thanks. In any case, you helped me. Because, it is absolytely sure that in Sierra Montana Mitter had the Nr.186. (not Nr.112 as in Trento Bondone, more as one month earlier) and Zwischengas is a trustworthy source.

In Trento Bondone was the debut of 910 with Hans Herrmann, car Nr. 108 (chassis probably 001, the same of Herrmann in Sierra Montana).

Here the fotos from Trento Bondone 1966 from Facebook, I hope this link can work (from Facebook)

And, yes, on

http://www.porschema...html?1331387348

on the second post of Tony Vitag is 906-010, without doubts.

(In Trento Bondone Mitter has one leg in a plaster cast, accident in Spa in 906, two months earlier).

Zwischengas about car Nr.186 is writting it is a rebuild 906-010, but it seems to be a 910, I agree.

Now I found it: in the book "Excellence Was Expected" by Karl Ludvigsen, German edition, page 418, is clearly written that in Sierra Montana Mitter drove a 910 (Scarrfiotti was the winner).

Write-ups in books can be a strong indication, but if there is photographic proof, that is so much stronger. We can be sure now that it was indeed a 910 that was used in Sierre-Crans Montana. Unfortunately, the J. Barth books are incorrect and I tended to trust them because of the close links with the Porsche factory.

Yes, Henk, I trust and trusted J.Barth for the same reasons....

Thank you for your help, it means a lot to me....
