Apart from this newspaper report, nothing further is known about this event. Can anybody add anything?

Ottawa Citizen, 14 August, 1961:

Ottawa Team

Takes Top

Car Event

ST. EUGENE (Special) - A

three-man team from the Otta-

wa Motorsports Club won the

featured relay event at the

Montreal MG Car Club Races

held here over the weekend.

Using an MG twin cam and

an Elva Courier, the Ottawa re-

lay team included drivers Don

Tarte, Gerry Cockerill and Bill

Pickthorne.

The relay victory was the high

spot in a day that proved the

best of the season for the Otta-

wa racing team. Pickthorne

also picked up another first and

a second in his twin-cam MG,

while Cockerill had a second

and a third to his credit in other

events.

Jim Randall, driving an Elva

Courier, was third in a novice

event.

Track & Traffic usually carried reports of St Eugene and the issues are available digitally, did you find anything there?

The old Ottawa Journal has a report of a race, but it was 2 years later.

I'm somewhat surprised that the circuit remained active until 1964, until the opening of Mt Tremblant.

Nothing in T&T. Far too much Canadian history is lost, seemingly forever. RGDS RLT
