Could anyone help with this please?

Steve claims on his website and in a few other places to be the "1981 British Superbike champion".

After much research i can find no mention of this anywhere else.

Searched through that years motocourse plus looked in detail through my large collection of race programmes and MCN's from that year.

That years champions were:

MCN Superbike: Ron Haslam

British solo: Bob Smith

Shellsport 500: Graeme Crosby

TTF1: Graeme Crosby

ACU 500cc: Dave Dean

Streetbike: Ron Haslam

ITV Superbike: Barry Sheene

The Super One championship was only run in 1987.

Other than on Steve's website I can find no evidence that this 1981 Superbike championship was ever run.

Yes but there is nothing to say this is verified.

I have the majority of MCN's from that year and none of them list a "British Superbike" championship being run. That years Motocourse lists all the major champions from the season but again no mention of it.

The same also applies to Steve's 1978 British 500cc title. No books or papers/magazines from that season mention anything about it.

(This should not be confused with the Shellsport 500cc title won by Barry Sheene)

The motorcycle racing online site is great but i have found the odd mistake on there when i have done further research.

That’s my site, and the correct link is this: http://www.f1network...ne/s180/st88159

To be honest, Steve Parrish is only listed as the 1981 Superbike champion based on the info he provides on his own site, as mentioned.  I included it because I assumed I must have missed something that he himself would know all too well.  I don’t have any verification for it either.  Given the short-lived nature of various British championship series over the years it is no surprise that I have included some mistakes.  Can you point out any others for me?

Dan

I will post the full list i have later.

To be honest i think i only found a couple of issues, i have managed to fill in some of the gaps on there as well.

I have tried contacting Steve personally to verify what championships he actually won but have never had any replies

Lol, I wonde r why that might be if he is claiming to have won a series that didn't exist!

There were no superbike series back then, it was stuff like F1, superstock and missed 2 and 4 stroke championships

Technically there were superbike series in terms of the MCN Superbike championship and the ITV World of sport superbike challenge although back then they were run for either F750 or TTF1 specifications.

Superstock didn't come in until 1985.

I do know what you mean, but there was no such thing in bike terms as a superbike in those days it would have been Z1100 and Katana sort of bikes, not what an actual class as there is now, and I think you could race 2 strokes?  I suppose the name used then is what became Superbikes once Suzuki and Honda built 750's.
