The 100th Anniversary & 94th running of the Pikes Peak hill climb takes place on 26th June 2016.

It will be interesting to see whether the IC vehicles can beat the  electric vehicles this year.

The ic record by Sebastien Loeb is 8:13.878  The electric record is 9:07.222 by Rhys Millen. In bikes it is even closer with electric at  10:00.694 versus ic at 9:52.819

I noticed there is  a Tesla S entered in electric production.

Im very interested in how the Tesla will do actually. Really cool to see.

I also think a proper turbo bike would smash the current record but i believe there has been very little turbo bikes entering so far.

Im going to guess a big improvent and down to 8.30 for the electric cars. Rhys millen has 1200hp in his and Monster has probably very similar numbers.

I believe the 2nd fastest IC time will go down too. Just because of progress in tires, engine tech etc.

I'm really curious to see how well Honda's 4-Motor EV Concept (née NSX) performs. Power-wise it is 3x last year's CR-Z EV, which was undisclosed but rumored to be approx 450 bhp... ~1350 bhp would do quite nicely!

The 4-motor setup's ability to vector torque independently at each wheel might make for a decisive advantage...

A callout for Best Wishes to old friend and kartmate David Donner, and past client Paul Dallenbach.

Pretty cool that the fastest Quad is from a French town named Villeneuve as well. :-)

Three of the top 5 fastest are electric. That's interesting.

This might be unanswerable, but...

...among the top cars/drivers, roughly how much of the time gaps might be due to differences in driver skill, as opposed to the cars' potential?

(E.g if you swapped Rhys and Romain, would the electric-modified still be ~6s slower than the unlimited?)

Three of the top 5 fastest are electric. That's interesting.

And how much did they cost in comparison to a 'normal' vehicle.

One good thing about electric is that the atmospheric conditions will make no difference to power,, though the colder the less power from the batteries. And [within reason] more power from the petrol engines.

The Tesla hardly starred though, about a dozen from last of the finishers.

And I know which I would feel safer to crash,, and no I would hate to crash in that place,, but a heavy vehicle with a pile of batteries would scare me stiff going over the edge!

Indeed. The only thing worse would be to crash with a tank of potentially explosive liquid.
