There have been a lot of cars in 84 races of the 24h Le Mans. In the last years we have the 56th garage with some innovative projects.

But what were the most interesting, special or strange cars that competed in Le Mans?

A few suggestions here:

My vote goes to the Nardi.

I can't take that list seriously when Welter Racing don't get a single mention.......

What mention for Welter should there be?

He is coming with a very innovafive project in 2017...

Cool thread, and great link, Tim. :-)

Nardi for me as well... though Le Monstre is sure ahead of it's time! But not enough to not be just a bit ghastly...

Are the Rover-BRM and Howmet entries strange enough to be considered here?

And whilst considering the possible ghastliness of Le Monstreā€¦ does anyone else think that the current crop of LMP1 cars (in particular the Audis, but the others too) make the recent F1 cars look (almost) attractive?

I suppose the 2Fs looked a little strange in their day - but they were certainly interesting...

Regulation fin aside, I quite like this years' Toyota, and the Porsche 919 isn't too bad, but the Audi is hideous.

But if it wins, "she'll be just beautiful", to quote a man who was robbed of his Le Mans win fifty years ago!

Even an ugly race car looks good while inside... or so it seems.

But yes, even an abhorrent car in Victory Circle suddenly looks dressed to kill.

I saw this beast in Hockenheim last year. Supposendly it ran in LM sometime around 1975.

IMO is this just as wrong as that Camaro.
