That was a great race. Fernando and Jenson were the class of the field that day.

This really was a key moment in his career. Wasn't it that he showed his judging skills in these conditions already at that time? I vaguely remember he made a decision opposed to the rest of the grid which ultimately gave him the victory.

Not sure, I don't believe that was the case this time.

But he definitely showed his speed in drying conditions, which he became well known for.

That allowed him to challenge Alonso, and when Renault messed up Button was leading by a mile.

I recall that race he and a couple of others were running around with alot more fuel than necessary. I think he also had to pit when it was drying and kept his old inters on instead of taking new ones, as it wasn't dry enough yet

Talking of milestone, is the Spa GP not his 300th GP entry?

Yes, but 297th start. I never really figured out how they count these things.

Entry means taking part in at least one session I believe. So he had 3 times when he didn't start the race. (I can only recall 2: Monaco '03 when he crashed in practice and had to sit out the race due to concussion, and the Michelin DNS at Indy in '05. Third - Bahrain last year?).

Were they not banned for a couple races for a fuel tank cheating episode?

Good memory, I think you're right on all 3.

So yes, Spa will be his 300th GP, and Malaysia will be his 300th race start.

And I think the race starts is the achievement being celebrated.

They were, for two races. But those don't count for either the amount of Grand Prix, or race starts, as he didn't take part the whole weekend.

I remember beaing a bit anxious when they put Inters on his car as it was almost dry. I thought he was going to end up 2nd, then Alonso lost his Wheel, what a relief it was.

Apart from Jenson's win, it was also the first race in F1's history with Polish driver.

Probably the reason I've got involved and why I'm here today.
