Why is literally every single C5 advert for childrens' toys? The advertising scheduler hasn't done their homework.

Heidfeld is on 0% but it was showing as 1% when he crossed the line - fingers crossed that he won't be disqualified!

Because they weren't able to sell those slots to new buyers. They had no choice but to simply keep the ones they already had.

An interesting race! A shame neither Piquet nor Bird won though. Da Costa and Frijns proving that they're going to be a formidable duo this year

I can't believe we had to cut away for Chubby Puppies. If I needed those I'd just look at Lewis Hamilton's Instagram feed.

Anyway, I enjoyed that race. Bit of bad luck involved but e.dams strategy was the best, plus I freakin' love the colour of that car. I might even start supporting them for that!

What was Piquet's pitstop about? I'm massively hungover and even I could immediately work out that it was just about the WORST time to pit in the entire race.

I feel we were robbed of a better race due to NextEV's incompetence and DSVirgin's bad luck. The race seemed really long and the battery % bars are a work of fiction. Heidfeld 'ran out' and yet was able to drive an entire lap to get back to the pits. Channel 5's coverage was promising (no tedious hour of studio pre race blah) but slamming on another advert for Baby-frickin'-Born as the 3rd place car took the chequers was a bit weird.

Now onto the bizarre FE calender... It'll feel like the first race again in November and then again in Feb. *slow clap*

Didn't see the the Formula 1 or Formula E races today, busy with other things. Shame about Jose Maria crashing into that barrier in the race and Sebastien got lucky with Nelson having to avoid the accident. Hopefully next race Jose Maria can show us some of that talent i know he has got.

I know right. I had to mute the TV before my sanity chip exploded, that's what you get for putting Formula E coverage after Milkshake. At least Marrakesh is in the same timezone as Britain.

Anyway, a fine race. Cars seem much closer than last year and hats off to the Andretti duo. Let's see if Andretti can get their first win in the series at some point.

I'm glad to see Heidfeld on the podium. He has still got it. Ill have to rewatch the whole race later as I only saw glimpses of it while cleaning the house.

Incredible that Channel 5 couldn't wait at least a minute to get all the drivers over the line.

As long as they don't contain those patronizing childrens tv adverts, i will be happy with that.

There is a Formula E channel on youtube, last years used to take over a weeks to get a 50 minute highlight on the channel. not sure if it is still like that.

Frustrating that C5 cut to ads almost straight away, but at least the race was ad free.

Why didn't they all pit under the safety car, like Buemi? Were Ferrari personnel involved in that call?

Commentators were clueless as to the real situation, thinking Bird could come out anywhere near the lead, even without the problem. Unbelievable.

Indeed it does, looks like they have gone for the same semi-dull finish that Renault have used on their F1 cars.

Not a fan of these finishes, the colours look far better with a shiny surfaces, the colour of the Renault F1 car really popped when the fuel was leaking over it the other week.

Extra stop was early due to front wing damage (meatball flag). During the SC he came in (one lap earlier than others) and was able to save enough energy to finish.

He was likely using his considerable single seater experience to drive the car on minimum energy usage, making most of it up in the corners where the energy is not used. also if he was in traffic, he can use the draft from the car ahead to help him to save more energy.

That was the worst strategic choice possible for Piquet. You either had to pit under the safety car or stay a few laps out to build a gap. Pitting under the safetycar was the most correct choice, as anybody that has followed any racing probably knows. Just mindboggling how these teams get caught out.

Just caught up with this one. Overriding thought: that Renault is sexy but the opposition really gifted to Buemi. I quite like the Mahindra as well. I'm not surprised Lopez is already on the pace. There's no doubt he will win races this season if he can survive past the first corner. Rosenqvist looks like a prospect as well.

Suspension damage due to contact with Sam Bird led to López lack of pace and accident, according to what he said to the Argentine media.

That makes a lot of sense. Lopez had great pace in qualifying but seemed unusually slow during the race; I assumed he had damage from the contact.

Enjoyed the Andretti boys making up a lot of places. I root for Da Costa and Frijns this year. Though I think their car will not be strong enough to fight for the title. The drivers certainly are though.

I enjoyed the race more than the Suzuka race and having Martin Haven is a bonus, I would love to hear him doing the F1, sky should put Croft out to grass and let a proper commentator and motor sport enthusiast have a go.

Jose Maria can work around that, depending how hard his toe-link was knocked out of position it can be derivable with an adjusted steering position with a penalty in tight corners or it can be virtually undrivable and he would be lucky to make the finish.

This isn't F1 and cars can actually pass. Bird would have come out around 8th, but had masses more power to cut through the field not saying it was do-able, but Buemi's early pit left him 60% of the race to do on one battery and was quite risky. I don't think it was that clear cut. clearly pitting under SC is a big advantage, but that early was quite risky

How'd he get the Citroen WTCC role anyway?

Off topic a moment: that one weekend in Termas di Rio Hondo in 2013 driving a BMW to 5th in race 1 and victory in race 2 was probably one of the greatest interview responses a driver can give to a new team incoming to that championship! :smoking:

However this belongs in the WTCC thread.

We saw from Frijns that going long was a valid strategy. It was the half-hearted indecisiveness of the Piquet team that was most confusing.

As portuguese, I will always support Félix da Costa. However, I do like Frijns too. I really would like that these two guys fight for the title, but it's hard to believe that Andretti will provide a car for that.

Andretti isn't that far off, they probably won't fight for the titles but I could see some podiums for them. With a good luck maybe even a race win, who knows.
