A Formula E on the streets of Nice, France?
Since the Monaco EPrix is only on every other year (the Grand Prix Historique going in the off-year), why not have a EPrix in neighbouring Nice each year Monaco isn't hosting?
The circuit which I propose is in the heart of the city going along the shore, the harbour, through part of the residential areas and along the Paillon park/avenue section.
Obviously it shouldn't go on the same weekend as the Grand Prix Historique, but on the on before or even better after.
Then race fans can have a long stay in the Cote d'Azur to watch the Grand Prix Historique in Monaco, the EPrix in Nice and the Grand Prix in Monaco.
What do you think?

Does not, the green park to the left where T1 or T-Last would be, is quite far from Negresco (relatively speaking). It is however close to a McD.Does it run past the Negresco?

The thing I am interested in is how you have a 3 night credit there!?!

What do you think?
-I want to see a few more corners, i would adjust the end of the straight at Boulevard Jean Jaures so it connects with the lower Place Garibaldi street and then connects to Rue Cassini. That way you got 2 more corners after a long straight
-I would then put a sharp hairpin at the end of Rue Cassini and connect up Rue Antoine Gautier and then i would connect it up to Rue Catherine Segurane and an interesting set of corners there, coming tothe cross section i would connect it back up to Quai Rauba Capeu.
-The final corners could be adjusted so they are more straight so it runs along the middle of the Place Messana between Avenue de Verdun and Boulevard Jean Jaures.

There's no obligatory chicanes or hairpin-with-return-on-same-boulevard.

Good points Xentas. I twasn't a finalized idea, more a general plan so your tweaks would improve it.
Butfrom the reponse; I take it people like the general idea of a EPrix roughly around this area?
There would be several great spectator areas; the beach could have stands, the Castle Hill (the mountain next to the harbour), and several hotels and apartments. Even yachts in the harbour.
Sadly not past Negresco jonpollak (though nothing is written in stone), but it would be a minute or so away from the left end corner.

I like the simplicity of it. Why have corners for the sake of it? Motorsport is in need of the traditional, fastish flowing circuits.
It would be a great location for a Formula E race though - and a bit more space than Monaco. Also very good rail connections to many European cities.

I do agree in a way.
I get that Formula One cars and LM cars that can reach almost 400 km/h needs chicanes, but Formula E?
But sure, chicanes make for nice passing spots, so some are needed, but not to many.
Exactly, Nice Cote d'Azur International Airport minutes from the track and rail/highways another ten minutes from the track.

this is how it would look with adjustments:

Formula E + Chicanes = Braking = Battery Regen.

...or, why not simply rejuvenate the classic Nice Grand Prix layout, from before the World Championship was invented?

This is a fallacy. Whatever regen you get from braking for a chicane is immediately lost accelerating back up to speed after the chicane. Unless FE has some way of circumventing Newtonian law?

Is this the same boulevard where that idiot drove a truck last Summer on July 14th?
Maybe too far sought by me but somehow I can envision people not liking the idea to see cars, no matter what kind of car it is, speeding on that boulevard anymore for whatever reasons, even if it is supposed to bring entertainment.
No offence to the OP and the actual plan itself intended.

A pit stop and recharge at McDonald's would do me and the drivers a good turn.

Some good changes, Xentas, although the circuit should go along the harbour. Would look better on TV, could include people watching from yachts and the parking where the Corsica ferry is (I think), on the corner after rounding the mountain would be a great place for spectator seats.

It is, although I believe the terror attack was a bit further to the west.
I see your point, but this is the centre nerve of Nice. I don't think people would be offended by this, rather it would be a way of restoring things and not letting terror win etc.

How Ironic.
Michael McDonald played six shows in Nice for Societe Generale.
They offered us the voucher if we moved out on Saturday night !
I went to Juan les Pins.
Nice place..

Re-using old layouts of various forgotten historic street courses would be quite an interesting idea actually.

Its pretty much the same circuit except mine goes around the Castle Hill and by the port.
