Hi there
I am new to this forum but have already seen there is a wealth of information/knowledge on here. I have a 1971 GTM (formally Cox GTM) that I plan to build into a race car over the next few years, I would like to paint it in the colours of Howard Heerey's 68 racer that was driven in the Motoring news GT championship that year. The car was in the below 1150cc class and was painted blue fading down to silver. I have looked everywhere but can find no colour images of the car anywhere. Can anyone on here help? I would appreciate anything to give me a steer on the paint scheme

The Car which Heerey raced was often to be seen in the Hazel Grove premises and was yellow. iirc it was a prototype and was alluminium bodied. I have a feeling that this was before '68 so could possibly be a different car to the one you are looking for.

That's correct, The yellow car was the prototype Cox he raced in 67, the 68 car was specially built for him as a 1150cc GT.

not sure about this one ? colour looks close, hair is period   but not sure if this is a more recent photo ?

Yes that is in period, the guy is fettling a Red rose Chevron B8 I think, I have that also but need a side shot of the car in colour to see the colour fade properly, in B/W it doesn't show up well and that is all I have at the moment.

Yes Howard is indeed on Facebook. By the way, lots of Cox GTM owners will be celebrating 50 years of the cars next year at the annual Mk1 Performance Action Day at Blyton Park on April 30th.

Yes that would be marvellous, I don't do Bookface much at all but will revive my profile to contact Mr Heerey. I was planning to go to Blyton next year as I know a chap with a Cox who has promised me a ride in his car.

Would you believe it but HH just posted colour pictures today on Facebook, I opened up FB for the first time in about 2 years and searched his name and there they were! I feel very jammy!

When I travelled to Hazel Grove in the '60s with my dear old pop,I walked past the garage and saw the Cox GTM and then again at a meeting at Brands when back down South.Howard drove some great races in super cars and was quite a regular at Brands in period.
