But there's that glorious sound from the V8 engines...
Plenty of other V8-powered series with actual competition we could be watching

I went to watch practice yesterday since it was free and caught these

The quality of the grid might be poor, but they're still great cars to look at and listen to.

I can say I watched them doing practice runs once. They are nice cars

The series organisers have confirmed that it will not be run next year. This will be the final year of the championship.

What the heck is 'Formula student'?
Formula Student is for University students to build approx. 200kg autocross cars with either 600cc motorcycle engine or EV Max speeds are generally around 100 km/hr, so they can (and usually do, as long as they have students in the team to have an aero group as well as chassis group) run enormous wings with minimal drag penalty because that generally creates a gain in lateral g's that overcomes the loss in straightline speed and slight additional weight (generally less than 5kg for all the wings).

Inevitably. It's a shame though, nice cars, series was doing well until so recently. But the last two seasons have been very bad.

Thanks for that-they seem to have some attractive drivers Sad about the FV8 3.5 I actually went to a round when it was main event of the 'World Series Renault' in 2005 at Bilbao

Since the Renault support quit and it lost most of the superlicense points, the series was abysmal.

The series was well and truly shafted when the FIA decided to protect the F1 support packages by stripping FV3.5 of most of its superlicence points despite having produced a huge number of future F1 drivers through its history. Protectionism at its best.

It was just a matter of time. Sad to see but having it as it looked in the last 2 years wasn't much better.

A series in which Celis Jr. ends up being competitive is a serious indication it's coming to an end.
So no surprise it's folding, even though the cars are great.

Hope we'll see more of the cars in Boss GP.

Sad to see this going the way of other excellent historical series like British F3. Agreed the last 2 years were piss, but I'll miss the Renault days and all the exciting talents we watched grow in here, like Vettel, Kubica, Ricciardo.

This series was devised and totally subsidised by Renault (and Nissan, their partners) and it couldn't cut it in the real world once the Renault oxygen supply was cut off. Nothing to do with the FIA.

Agreed. The FIA may often be feckless and incompetent and I normally don't hesitate to blame them, but in this case the series died because Renault didn't want to do it anymore.
I got piled on here in the past when I suggested Formula Renault was on its way out, but unfortunately it's all come to pass. Renault were cutting down their motorsport activities years before the FIA dreamt up their super licence scheme, which only awarded 5 points less than GP2 anyway.

Could Fittipaldi get a place in F2 next year?
Well, its good or bad, its a title.

Nice respect of yellow flags and track limits (Both drivers were given a drive-through.)
Rosberg would be proud

Think so-last female result in any series at that level I recall was when Desire Wilson won in Aurora F1 in 1980

You have Danica's and Simona's podiums in Indycar, Pippa Mann and Bia Figueiredo in Indy Lights.
