Matt Sommerfield has reported that source close to the team has told him that a deal has been done to completly purchase Manor from Fitzpatrick. http://www.somersf1....-manor.html?m=1

Wasnt there a crazy rumour that Ron Dennis is going to buy Manor with an Asian consortium?
I guess it's more related to the Galael family?

Would be so funny if Stephan Fitzpatrick would start StephanGP.

Stephan Fitzpatrick is not exactly wealthy, so it has been expected since he brought the team that he'll eventually have to find more investors.

"as a consortium with ties to the Asian market and several GP2 drivers seem to be the ones who are actually behind the purchase, that is understood to have been concluded yesterday at their base of operations in Banbury."
Jagonya Ayam? With Giovinazzi as one of the race drivers and Sean Gelael as a reserve?
#7
Posted 14 December 2016 - 13:44
yes I already heard from the Gelael family some weeks ago. So it could be right. Better than Tavo Hellmund I think, Geael is long-term and they had some own companies like KFC Indonesia

Looks like Tony G could be coming on-board the Manor bandwagon...

He is worth around 175 million if he wanted to could buy and bankroll manor if he wanted to

I do, they've started in F3 (in 2014?), went to 3.5 the year after and now they're active in GP2. So obviously there is money there, and it's also something Will Buxton mentioned.

eek
those KFC fast racing cars with Sanders face on the sides of the car always freaks me out

Also, I wonder what the Manor livery is going to look like if this happens. Identical to the JA-sponsored cars in the lower formulae? A mixture of Manor and JA liveries?

I like that yellow-red liveries...

If they are sponsored by KFC, it will vastly reduce their aerodynamics costs. - Wings are only £2.50 for 6....

No, on paper he is worth that. If he tried to offload half those assets he probably wouldn't get half the value you quoted. To be an F1 owner cash flow is king, and Fitzy doesn't have enough of that. But assuming he could get full value selling his assets, he'd have it all blown after 4 seasons. That doesn't scream rich enough to me either.

I wouldn't mind if that's their livery for next year, yellow-red is a nice combination...
And I also wouldn't mind if that's their drivers line-up. Giovinazzi and Blomqvist as main drivers, and Galael as reserve/test driver...

Would definitely be more bottom than top. The Prema one was forced by having RB on the other car.

Why yuck? I don't mind a few extra colors on the grid. Most cars are so damn boring liveried nowadays.

it's not a serious dislike as it's obvious from nuance of my posts with smilies
yuk is yuk, i find that Sanders face logo driving past at 300kmph very comical and creepy so I'm teasing it

I think there is no link between Haryanto and Jogonya Ayam (just the same nation), But as I know he never had sponsorship from Gelael.

Not a huge fan of they yellow and red too much like the Golden Arches.
Why not go for red and white stripes, like the old buckets. Actually, scratch that.. what about orange and beige of the original KFC?

I find it odd that KFC sponsorship appears on cars in McDonalds' corporate colours of red and yellow. Surely KFC should be red and white.
Ricardo Gelael's franchise has used yellow before in their advertising:

So will everyone else, plus I think the two above articles you've posted show nothing apart from trying to push news out to people, especially the Allen one.

It depends if Indonesian KFC customers identify with the retro look. If yellow and red is how they associate KFC, that's how it will be.

another year, another new owner for Manor F1
#47

Why is it that Manor needs a new owner rather than just sponsorship?
What I suspect is that 2016 might turn out to be the best season they've ever had. F1 teams work best when their owners are racers and the money comes from sponsors. As soon as the money owns the team then results go the wrong way.

Except sponsors are extremely slim pickings if you 're a forevermore backmarker. Plus Harianto's sponsors, apparently, left a big gaping hole in the budget (by not paying) that the current owner is unwilling to plug out of pocket.

I hope they keep the Manor name - and the "LWT" M-logo. It'd be a shame if that was confined to F1 history after one season (just like Lotus Racing's Plectrum logo).

Has a consortium ever successfully taken over an F1 team?
