I wish him a good and complete recovery. This year's flu seems particularly strong.

All the best for a speedy recovery Sir Stirling !

Best wishes indeed. I caught a seriously ikky bug whilst in Kuala Lumpur in September resulting in a most unpleasant does of bronchitis. As my local (Malaysian born) GP commented, the propensity many south east Asians (amongst others!) have to pop antibiotics at the drop of a hat means that there are some very nasty bugs going around in that part of the world.

My all time motor racing hero, always has been from small childhood, and probably always will be, a surprisingly respectful article in the Daily Mail, and even more surprisingly, almost totally respectful reader comments following it. I was expecting nasty spiteful stuff, probably from young Hamilton fanboys, like "This Sterling can't really have been much good if he never won the WDC" and similar, but no, almost a more enjoyable read than the article itself, which sadly rarely happens, truly we are not alone, even in DM land.
The Greatest Living Englishman without a doubt, if he can survive that lift fall, surely he can survive almost anything, get well soon Sir Stirling.

My mum never payed much attention to sport. Stirling Moss had a face that she recognised and liked -- along with Bobby Charlton and Muhammad Ali.
There was only one racing driver at the time. "Who do you think you are? Stirling Moss?"
Get well, please, Mr Moss.

A friend in Switzerland has caught this too and ended up in hospital, the anti-biotics did not work for the reasons posited here and elsewhere, it took her 3 weeks to recover.
Neither was she old, this kind of thing is going to to occur more and more, as told to me by a doctor in the UK.

Sir Stirling Moss has been discharged from hospital, several months after being admitted with a serious chest infection.[...]
"He is thrilled to be back where he belongs," read the statement.
"He still has a substantial amount of recovery to undertake but says that he has determination and a great pit crew.
"He and Lady Moss are enormously grateful to the medical staff, both here and abroad, who worked so tirelessly to make all this possible.
"They also want to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, all the family, friends and fans for their love and support. It has been overwhelming and given them a lot of strength, smiles and hope.
"For now, they are looking forward to just lying back on their pillows in their bedroom and watching the Spanish Grand Prix."

Five months is a l_o_n_g time to be hospitalised. It's good to see they've let him out at last!
A speedy recovery, Sir Stirling.

I am sure Stirling kept the nurses on their toes. Glad he has been released into the wild once more.

Phew. Like others, I had no idea he'd been in hospital so long.
Sir Stirling, get well soon.

We have to keep this old bugger going. He is one of the main reasons we are all here.

It appears that he wasn't at Goodwood. Can anyone give us an update on his progress?

While Brooks will be at Goodwood, Stirling is unlikely to attend as he is still recuperating at his London home from the ill health he suffered at the start of this year.

With Gurney gone, alas, and Sir Stirling ill, how many of the front engine F1 aces are still with us? Is Tony Brooks still one?

As one of the legions of schoolboy fans of Stirling Moss in the 1950's I wish the great man a long and peaceful well earned retirement.
Posted 20 January 2018 - 01:32
I can only echo what others have said-especially Eric above^
My favourite (live) recollection is from the inaugural Goodwood Revival in 1998-Moss was in 'His' old Aston DBR1 and was lying third to Brundle in a D Type and Willie Green in a Ferrari Testa Rossa. I was in the stands above the entrance to the chicane-and suddenly you saw Moss make an obvious decision:-" I am Stirling Moss, in a DBR1, this is Goodwood, What am I doing in third place?"! He was past Green in a very aggressive move and shortly after the D Type as well. Magic Stuff.
