Grosjean's one of more and more drivers in F1 these days who have no 'helmet identity' at all.
Ultimate example being Vettel for changing it all the time, then going pretty plain when he wasn't allowed to anymore.
Really? I am more than sure, that 90%+ users would say it's Grosjean's helmet, when seeing it without logos, number, texts, etc, and only with colors and pattern scheme.
Posted 06 February 2017 - 11:26
Stoffel's and Pascal's will be very similar in terms of overall impression if they stay with roughly same design as 2016
Posted 06 February 2017 - 11:40
I hope mclaren drop the sponsorless halo from the drivers helmets.

I wouldn't have a clue. What is the design? Blue with yellow sevens? I'd've put that down as Kimi's were it not for the brighter colours.
Compare with back-of-grid drivers like - just picking at random - Silvio Moser (green with white diamonds), Jo Vonlanthen (white with red kamikaze stripe edged in black), Jim Crawford (black with red Mohican trimmed in white) and Siegfried Stohr (like Beltoise's but in red and white).
Pretty much every driver from the seventies to the nineties had a helmet design that was easily distinguishable and fairly easy to describe, or at least draw.
These days? Hardly. Vettel's is the only real design that is simple to understand and describe, Palmer's is not far off. Maybe Magnussen's.

I'm afraid not. Vandoorne posted a larger pic of his helmet on IG yesterday and it clearly had the white halo.
Posted 06 February 2017 - 12:04
Could you post a pic of this? I can't find it. All I can find is a close up of the number 2. He posted another picture before of his whole helmet but that was one from his race in 2016, numbered 47.
Posted 06 February 2017 - 12:34
It was one of those pics that goes away after 24 hours (no idea how to get hold of it, being the IT-iliterate I am). It's basically the same picture as the one at the top of this thread, but you could see a bigger part of the white halo.

What is the most used colour for helmets? I presume its between Red and Blue.

I guess Fernando's helmet is not going to have orange color thanks to highly anticipated use of orange color for the new McLaren car livery.

I would say there will be more red/orange on the side.
I would say both McLaren drivers will use Bell also.

Sainz Jr with 2kgs strapped to his helmet for training. Its also a Stilo lid and not the Arai he used last year.

Nasr and Bottas raced with Stilos, any other driver besides Sainz Jr. ?

What's he training for, spine damage?

This year all drivers are facing the heaviest lateral G-forces they have ever experienced in a F1 car.

Joey Logano's helmet:
Too bad that's in NASCAR where you don't really get to see the helmets that often. Yeah, it looks like that because of the Shell sponsorhip for the #22. But still, that's the sort of a helmet design I'd like to see more often. A simple, easily recognizable design with some details.

Superb. We'd never see something like that in F1 which is a shame.
Vettel had a rust coloured lid a few years ago during his Red Bull days.

The "ancient history" bronze helmet? one of his few cool and interesting helmets. http://www.f1fanatic...ona-2014-14.jpg
His Monaco pinup and Stratos helmets were cool too

Blimey. Dry.
I meant that if he crashes the kart, he's got a helmet that weights much more than it should. He could ingure himself badly. The reason helmets are developed to be as light as possible is to reduce the G factor in the event of a crash.

Looks like Verstappen's helmet is completely taken over by Red Bull, almost not own design and only Red Bull colors also. (Wait for the pics from the side)

Red Bull helmet design reveals might be the dullest thing of the year, you already know how 90% of the helmet will look like.
Posted 21 February 2017 - 12:29
Except of the orange part on the top it is basically the Red Bull livery
More pics
Lewis Hamilton will present his helmet design (from the fan competition) tomorrow. These were the runner-ups.
