Dallara built so many racing cars.

Does anyone know how much cars were built in total?

How many different models?

That's a Riley, not Dallara

(assuming you're talking about the current cars)

I think Dallara is the manufacture with the most racing cars built.

I remember Reynard being touted as such, but as time passes could very likely be Dallara - Vaguely back in my mind I recall an article from Autosport late 80ies or early 90ies stating an Estonian manufacturer to actually holding the record. Presume have been manufacturing for the various Eastern Block racing series.

To answer myself... https://en.wikipedia...tonia_(race_car) So about 1300 cars build by TARK, my Reynard number hover at 1000 - Dallara must be close if not already there.

That Wikipedia link only shows the 2003 R8 but not the R8r from 1999? Dallara certainly built that version run by Joest while the other '99 Audi was the coupe built in-house and a bit rushed. I thought the r8r was a different car to the later Le Mans winners?

Yes it was, I'm just not sure how the IP ownership for this car works.

Funny thing: there is no word about Dallara at Haas site, kind of lame I might say.

I thought they built a car for Frank Williams in the 60s as well.

Hmmm... better dig this a little more:

1969-70 - Gian Paolo Dallara designed (under De Tomaso company) the De Tomaso 505/38 for Williams;
1970 - Williams partnership with De Tomaso was ended due to the death of Piers Courage and lack of results;
1972 - Gian Paolo Dallara funded Dallara Automobili in Parma;
1973 - Gian Paolo Dallara was bought into the team to redesign the rear suspension of the Iso-Marlboro IR during the season;

As a tangent to this.... it is often said how all F1 teams need to be based in the UK due the knowledge pool is leagues above any other country. Having been as big a manufacturer as Dallara have been the past 25 years, that does not entirely hold true.

I suspect that if Maranello could swallow a little ego they could well use some of dallara's help..

It could be argued that Dallara have been successful at every formula they tried.  Except F1.

A bit like Lola.

Your point was very clear.  You were saying that if only Dallara had been based in the UK, they would have been F1 winners.

Just like Lola and Reynard.

The R8C was also outsourced, to RTN in the UK. Peter Elleray designed it and Audi Sport UK ran the cars.

Complete flop of a design, but it was a stunning car to look at. That whole '99 grid was one of the all-time greats in terms of variety, looks, and sounds.

Anyone know how many total cars have been built by Lola?

I know they are now defunct, but they surely must be close to Dallara in total numbers?

The problem with the Lola's is that of the dozen T70's that were built sadly only 48 still exist!

Paraphrased but still...

Quite right, but somehow you missed it.

The THREAD is about Duh'lara over the wide range of chassis they produce.

You dumbed it down to F1   :rolleyes:

March must have produced a pretty high number of cars over the 1970s and 80s.  F1, F2, F3, Indy, sports and so on.  Wasn't there an Indy 500 field that was all Marches one year?

Likewise Cooper and Lotus before them, too.
