With increased light levels of the picture, top of the Bargeboard is more visible, as well as the left hand side rear mirror.

Wouldn't the lights be reflecting over the sponsor logos instead for seemingly going under them?

Check the photos again, if they are lights then why don't they shine onto suspension or shine over sponsor logos?

:p

Have you guys ever heard about PhotoShop?

But we will see once the car is really launched what is the colour scheme.

They could be photoshopped entirely but they're definitely not lights.

I would imagine they will be on the livery but not as vibrant as they appear in the images, which probably have been enhanced.

I don't think they'd have mentioned the colours and listed blue specifically in the tweet if it wasn't going to be part of the livery.

The Hybrid sign/text is obviously blue.

It looks like its possibly under UV light. So I presume the colours will be on the car, but in natural light will be a lot more subtle.

I think the blue and green lines will be part of the livery, to coincide with the change from 'Mercedes F1' to 'Mercedes Motorsport' - so this is part of their brand refresh to accommodate their entry in to FE. It'd be great if the line graphics were reflective, so that they look really vibrant under the lights in Singapore, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Well, the colourful stripes continue straight on top of the left hand side upper wishbone so then their wishbone must also be treated to shine in dark...

It is either PhotoShopped stripes or colourful light shone on the chassis and the details of Logos etc PhotoShopped.

At least the logos are Shopped, e.g. that last M -letter in the word "Syntium", and actually rather badly since the width changes at the bottom.

Hmm, I think may you are right actually Jvr.

I'm torn now to if they'll be present or not on the car. They seem to flow differently from the car especially in the image with the Petronas S.

Mercedes you dicks.

You know this thread is open in their office watching us lose it over some irrelevant details.

Highly doubt it. Nobody in their right mind would go through the trouble of photoshopping curved stripes on a car, then photoshopping curved logos on top of that. It makes no sense. Can't see anything wrong with letter M either.

The colourful stripes are part of the paint job - with some glow-in-the-dark-effect perhaps - and the logos are pasted on top of that.

We're only on page two. The McLaren topic has existed for 15+ pages of discussion on the colour scheme, so things could be worse! ;)

If you enhance one of their pictures, I believe one of their lamps creating the effects becomes visible at the bottom right hand corner. Or at least I have no clue what else it could be with a blue dot and a weird shape...

It's the reflection of the stripes on a curved element. There's no lamp  :D

Early ridiculous prediction.

They will struggle with the tyres.

Hope it's as good looking as last year's car

Actually from that you can clearly see there's no fin and you can make out the Spa-style McDonalds rear wing.

That weird purplish thing at the bottom right hand side of the picture? I cannot say that is any piece belonging to a car. If you download the original picture, increase shadows and exposure level, it becomes visible and it is not any reflection but a solid object.

I have been looking at that point since I posted and I am quite convinced that if any fin is there, it would not be visible from that angle but covered by driver's headrest, air intake, and the mirror.

So I am afraid to say, too early to conclude there is not any shark fin based on that picture.

ZOOMG, no cock nose! If this car can be sans-sharkfin Merc would have smashed the design out of the park for 4 years in a row. I have a feeling their aerodynamicist is also an aesthete and has a smidgen of self respect!

In honour of the designer, I christen this car, great grandson-of-Kraken, HYDRA!

Hail Hydra

I think you would see it in the space behind and above the T-cam.

Eagle-eyed Obi will have to confirm though, I wear glasses.

The following image suggests there isn't a shark fin:

I'm trying to figure out what that thick grey/silver streak is.  It appears to be too tall as it approaches the airbox, (forward direction) to comply with the regs.

Having compared to the W07, it now looks like the two cars (W07 & W08) could have similar fins, perhaps with the 08 having a very slightly thicker fin.

It looks it will have a fin but a bit similar as W07 had (and the Williams render did) i.e. it slopes down along the engine cover rather than one like Sauber and Renault that has a top rim staying about horizontal.
