One off sponsorship deals are nothing new in Formula One but, call me slow, I have only just noticed that the #26 Ligier JS5 driven by Jacques Laffite carried the legend "Mark C. Bloome" prominently on both sides of the car and rear wing .
I believe at the time the Canadian born Mr Bloome in question was retired from the motor trade, having built up a chain of tyre retailers which he sold on in 1972.
Which begs the question how did he come to have his name so prominently emblazoned on the Ligier in the 1976 US GP West ?
