I know that we already have a rally thread but I think that this great championship deserves its own thread. The first race is just over 2 weeks away and in the 3 years of the series, we've seen some incredible moments.

Have been to Lydden the past 2 years and am going again this......usually drive down overnight Fri / Sat am and camp

Not certain I'll be making the trip to Silverstone in 2018, doesn't seem right to hold rallycross there...

I will certainly not be going, tickets are likely to be as they were for lass cars and races, and the support races have been dumbed down considerably. RWD

 

It simply is not worth it for 20 odd supercars and a load of tripe they roll out.

 

Lydden is a shadow of the track it should be sadly and though an awesome place, WRX has outgrown it.

I got extremely frustrated with this and even could not find a decent YouTube proxy site that could have been able to show it.

 

So, I was planning to watch, after half an hour of trying to find a stream that works, gave up...

People complain about some of the new tracks, but this place is awful, literally one line all round apart from the tarmac bits

 

Their local council must be flush is all I can say. the the only way you get WRX rounds these days, money nothing more

Yet the drivers all seem to like it, haven't heard them complain about lack of overtaking chances either.

Don't think the previous round's track (Barcelona) was any better, much worse in fact, it's just dumb.

And why would IMG want to go on holiday to the middle of nowhere?

Can Ekstrom go 4 from 4 in Belgium this weekend? His teammate Heikkenen is usually very good here as well so it could be a strong circuit for EKS. Loeb will look to bounce back after conditions went against him in Germany.

 

Just like FE, Rx is back to back after the Hockenheim race last weekend.

"hope it doesn't become too posh". That's what Solberg said, and I agree. RX is for those who love noisy fast and aggressive cars!

It's Sweden this weekend, but Ekstrom is missing his home round to do his DTM duties. Can another Swede win instead? World Rallycross set to add electric cars in future

I have to admit, it does seem like a logical place for electric cars. They seem to have made clear that they will not replace the current cars nor race directly against them. The latter point may be a mistake or missed opportunity in my eyes, but then maybe it's too soon.

I can't think of a better form of motorsport for experimenting with electric cars than rallycross. Let's see how it develops.

Y'know I might retract my ideas about keeping them separate being a mistake. What could be more fun than cranking up the kilowatts to nutty levels for a few laps of rally-cross madness? I'd just hate to see them artificially cap them in performance as a secondary class.

Kristofferson is on another level this year! Loheac just put a nail in that coffin, It's his to lose for sure! But.....Loeb bemoaning PSRX Polo's? He wasn't moaning when he and Citroen romped to all those WRC Titles was he? Judas!

Rising costs can become a problem in any motorsports.

 

It is clear with the introduction of the World Championship in 2014 WRX has become more and more professional. Hence it gradually becomes more exclusive as well.

In some ways yes.  But the tracks are not keeping up, and there is only ONE team spending that much money, the rest are losing interest as a result

Kristofferson took the title last time out but the battle for 2nd is well and truly on. With Solberg injured but still competing, it will be incredible to see him get to the final and get some good points. Loeb and Ekstrom can gain some points in Germany this weekend. Remember last year?
