It's been a whirlwind 18 months full of ups and downs for me! Going through all of your messages now and your support's been amazing, but like any other driver, I need to find sponsorship to keep this dream alive. Hopefully this isn’t the end 1f91e-1f3fc.png#BillyWhizz

Sounds like Billy has his sights set on Formula Three (the GP3 replacement). Make it be, please.

He was in the Mercedes pit during qualifying in Abu Dhabi today and David Croft said that Billy will be having an extraction test of a GP3 car this week.

I think it would be a year too early for him, another year in a regional F3 championship and challenging for the title there would be better than jumping straight into international F3 in my opinion.

I think he got out quicker than some of the able bodied drivers can.

His upper body strength is really striking - no doubt that will serve him well with (hopefully) the step up to the International F3 car.

Indeed. Though, upper body strength, is higher weight distribution - not 100% sure how important it is in F1, however, in lower formulas it's not ideal.

And weirdly enough, with the halo, the lack of full legs might be a bit "help" when it comes to extraction!

Will he weigh slightly less too? More scope for using ballast for better weight placement on the car to meet overall minimum weight regulation

Keep Geri Halliwell away from Billy ... she came across as a yahoo probably meaning well during his grid walk in Abu Dhabi!

Should've thought of that as well! You are right.

For now, but I expect the minimum weight for driver + seat to be extended from F1 to the other series.

From the report:

Monger had qualified 11th but peeled into the pits at the end of the warm-up lap to switch from slick to wet tyres after rain started to fall on the grid.

Smart.

Well worth watching if anyone has the time.

His interview after the race was very emotional. Very inspiring to see him stood up on the podium with his prosthetics on show.

YAY Billy. Great achievement on one of the most difficult tracks out there, in trecherous conditions.

I genuinely don't understand why a manufacturer or someone like Red Bull hasn't signed him up yet.
Even if he doesn't get to F1 his profile would be worth its weight in PR gold.

Maybe Carlin could send him to Indy?   Max Chilton looks as likely to start next week as Billy...

That was the very best thing to see, ever. What a wonderfully determined and skilled young man.

Only just seen this, I watched the first race but didn't get a chance to watch the second. Absolutely brilliant from Billy!

What a contrast, Carlin winning a prestigious race in Pau with Billy, and then having a mare over in Indy.

The thing that impressed me most was that he wasn't the only one to come in for wets at the start but was miles ahead of the other 2, including his team mate, by the time the second safety car came out. Very good going.

I just thought I'd let everyone who didn't see it the first time know that the documentary about Billy is being repeated tonight on BBC1 at 22:40.
