That was my reaction after an amazing lap from Lewis Hamilton. I thought his first lap was good but then he went even faster on his second run in Q3. Championship leader Seb Vettel was 2nd with Valtteri Bottas coming third.

MAD FACT: Bottas his qualified 3rd in every race this year apart from when he took pole in Bahrain!

Hamilton needs 3 more to match Schumi, if he takes the next 3 poles, he will do it in Britain which will be amazing and the crowd will go pretty wild.

A Spain style race could be on the cards here and I just hope we see something is special as yesterday. According to recent trends today should be the greatest day in Motorsport. Here's why http://forums.autosp...est/?p=7931972.
Spain certainly wasn't boring and since Marklar made the Spain race thread, I blame him for a rubbish Monaco race ;) . But I made the Monaco race thread so today should be "the greatest day in motorsport" so we should be in for an epic race.

Here's to a good one, it should be dry but Canada can produce some classics!

What I found interesting was that if Lewis had have had a scrappy final lap he would have lost pole by a few thousandths from being up a few thousands

Lewis is great around this track and although I am naturally a pessimistic sports fan I can't get past the race pace that Ferrari has and I think seb will win off the line or through more intelligent and aggressive strategy. I see Merc sleeping or over analysing

Meanwhile Mclaren might not win anything this year but they won something much more important last night.

Forecast to be very warm
How will this affect overall grip and tyre life? Will all contenders have enough brake cooling?

Very windy, SW 30kph, which is just about a headwind down the back straight to the final chicane, should make DRS even more effective.

Extremely windy in Montreal, the fence at the back of parc ferme took off and struck a woman passing by. Fortunately she was ok. Four security men now holding onto the fence. Could be some safety issues around the venue, and high winds tricky for the F1 cars too

I'm missing a poll, now I'm very disappointed.

And yeah my gut feeling this year is basically always that Vettel will win the race and it's no different here.

I keep expecting there to be a crash at turn 1 on lap 1 (there always seemed to be 20+ years ago), yet it never happens. I'm predicting it will this year because of the wider cars (may not be a big one but I don't expect all 20 cars to get through without any contact or damage).

In the past there was grass and gravel so cars were funnelled through, now in effect the track is a lot wider.

Thus I expect a clean turn 1. Compared to last year, this season has been very well behaved so far.

After all the hype about the wind I bet nothing happens at all! However, I expect any spins to be blamed on it...

Hey, as long as the discussion around it isn't overwhelming and drowning, I'm happy.

If I had some photoshop skills, I'd have represented it as those Finding Nemo 'Mine? Mine? Mine? Mine?' seagulls but with 'Alonso?  Alonso?  IndyCar?  Alonso?'.  I like that it happened, but I'm glad it's done.

And yes, I realize I'm a total joyless, wet blanket on this subject.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alonso re-signed at McLaren (Mercedes) at the end of the a year simply so he can drive the McLaren Indycar in 2018 or beyond.

He's done.

He wanted a vacation from his nightmare, but will likely have a better situation next year in F1, where he *really* wants to be.  Whether it's at Mclaren or elsewhere.

He's obsessed with winning another world-class title.  It's the only reason he left Ferrari.  He wants that F1 championship again.  He wants to sit on top of the world.  Not be the best in a 2nd-rate series.  :p
