Go Fernando!
RA is one of my fave all time tracks.
Posted 23 June 2017 - 08:38
Been watching the '95 RA Broadcast on Youtube.
Bobby Rahal catching Raoul Boesel.
Al jr takes out Michael Andretti.
ESPN tells us Pete Sampras just won his third straight Wimbledon tournament.
Then Adrian Fernandez obviously faster than Rahal until he goes through the gravel trap.
Remember those?
Robby Gordon must've liked 'em 'cause he spent lots of time driving through 'em.
Eric Bachelard takes out Eddy Cheever at Canada corner. Merci Ęric!
Paul Tracy driving with a droken left foot. Eat your heart out Daniel Day Lewis!
DXM offers you CD quality music through your cable tv. CD quality damn it!
Half way through and Jack Vilnuf still leading.
Boy, those were the days!
Edit : Teo f'ing Fabi!
1996 was just as insane!
Greg
Last lap - I remember watching this on delay 1am Tues morning in Perth and screaming like a mad man as I realised Al's blow up had given Michael the win.

Hearing the 20+ IndyCars scream down the Moraine Sweep and brake heavily into turn 5, then up the hill into turn 6. Heaven on earth....

Wow. I go missing for two weeks and we have a regime change. What the hell?
Lol

Oh yeah. Hands down my favorite track in the US.
Very good sim racing memories as well. The McLaren F1 in the original RFactor was da bomb on this track.
Posted 23 June 2017 - 13:02
Finally IndyCar again! I don't like these long breaks between races

Posted 23 June 2017 - 15:42
Yeah Road America.
It is a lovely track to visit. The trees, the views, the food, and finally speed. A real fun track that covers everything a driver loves. Glad F1 doesn't go there it would totally ruin it

Looking forward to this weekend!
Fast street circuit in the Middle East (can't wait for F2 )
The best circuit in America IMO with one of my favourite championships
And NASCAR is going to start turning right

Aleshin's visa troubles seem to be resolved:
Maybe they thought he was a muslim? They keep calling him Al-Otion after all.
Brats and eggs on the grill..coffee..
Ok, I just tried cooking eggs on the grill, but they just ran through the bars and onto the fire. You owe me three large brown ones. (Eggs, that is...)

Even Packer fans like me gotta respect the mighty Walter Payton. What a class-act......and a former IndyCar team owner/fan.

I'm as big a Packer fan (and owner- 1 share of stock) as they come, but wouldn't knock "sweetness" either! Remember many years ago at RA when he was there as an owner he was vey gracious to the kids with autographs, etc.
Can't wait for this race!!

Many years ago..about 1995 I flew up from Arizona with the family and had rented s 34ft motorhome for race weekend. We drive up from Chicago to pick it up a few days before. They made a "mistake" and rented it to someone else ! Nothing available except a couple conversion vans that sleep 2 maybe three, No shower..no bathroom..limited cooking.. I was PISSED/ but still sane and business like,
Morons said they could refund my deposit..uh..asswipes.. I flew up 4 people 2,000 miles and paid in ADVANCE over 1 month ahead of the race..
After a couple hours of searching.. the manager says he has a 34ft home I could use.. There I met the owner,, Walter Payton. He heard what happened and came over from his North Shore home.. I just happened to be wearing my usual Bears shirt and hat.. Laughing he gave me the keys.. His MH was in for cleaning and normal maintenance.. They filled the tanks...and Walter would not take a penny for any of it. Then we found he had steaks and Beer in fridge with a New Bears hat on the seat.
I left for RA on Thursday..and spent a great time with the race and family camped in Hurry Downs..my favorite camping location..
Wonderful weekend..a great man..and one of my forever memories..even got a hug and that is one strong man.. Edit I think it was Cart race
My kids always slept in 34 Jerseys..
Love you Walter..

Jacques Villeneuve was twice a CART first time winner at Road America:
In 1985 (Gilles's brother only CART win);
In 1994 (Gilles's son first).

It's been more than 9 months since Matheus Leist won a road course race (Donington 2016 in BRDC F3), looks like he's going to break that winless streak.
edit: and he does. That should move him up to 4th or so in the championship.

Why has everything been shifted by an hour?
Edit: I've been shopping since the F1 Q ended. My wife had to evacuate a mall because of a fire alarm. She was most amused, came out with indian take-away for free.
