Noticed on YouTube that Jacques Laffitte raced with a plain white helmet during the 1977 Canadian Grand-Prix at Mosport. At the time, he was usually wearing his dark green liveried helmet that we're used to see him wear.

Anyone have any background on why he wore this helmet?

Not only a white helmet, but a Bell as well

Maybe Air France (or whoever) lost his luggage and he had to get a replacement PDQ?

 

At about that time BA used to advertise Concorde as 'Breakfast in London, lunch in New York'. At least one poster I saw had the legend 'luggage in Hong Kong' added to it.

Maybe customs, though at that time perhaps, drivers tended to carry their own kit? Maybe his GPA didn't pass scrutineering?
