Possibly more suited to paddock club, not too sure.

Got tears absolutely streaming down my face here guys.

Englands Rose

The day we lost our Nations Rose
Tears we cried like rivers flowed,
The earth stood still
As we laid her to rest,
A day you & I
Will never forget
The people's princess
Who came to see,
The love from a Country
We'd hope she'd lead,
Englands beauty
Captured in one sweet soul,
Carried the torch
God rest her soul,
With the gift she had
Shed light up the way,
With a smile to show us a brighter day,
Hearts still full
of the love she gave,
20 years since she laid in her grave
There will never be another like you,
Now a shinning star in the midnight sky
I will always remember you,
Princess Diana
As our sweet nations Rose1f339.png
By Lewis Hamilton

I love the guy. But seriously, one day, he will break into a cold sweat when he reads old stuff like this and go on a deleting spree like most of us did when we hit our twenties and spent three days deleting our Myspace profiles and the like.

What other hidden talents does the greatest driver of his generation hold do you think? I wait with bated breath.

Surely this was not written by Hamilton.
But he got his first taste of poetry with his tattoo 'Still I rise' - wow. he's pretty deep

Maybe the mods could sticky this thread to allow forum users a place to act as their poetry corner (Motorsport related poetry of course)  :D

Edit: My original message could have been perceived as a snide dig, which truthfully was not my intention.

There are many times my engine's a joke

Despite the fact it's so very bespoke

But lap 25 was enough

I pretend it went puff

So pass me the rum and coke........

So we can add poetry to the list of things it is unacceptable for Lewis Hamilton to do.

This list is getting pretty long now, maybe it would be easier if some of you guys compiled a list of things he is allowed to do?

He can do whatever he wants, the lad's an absolute star.

But this did amuse me in a cringey way so thought I would share.  :)

God he is going to get roasted when the other drivers hear about that.

Imagine Vettel, Webber, Jensen's faces after hearing about this

Like a lot of stuff from Lewis, this edges on the ridiculous (and indeed has echoes of Adrian Mole) but the sincerity shines through to save it, making it all kind of sweet and touching, not to say brave in putting it out there.

Well he was even younger with Senna so I'm not sure being 12 excludes him from personal feelings of compassion or loss. Although I do wonder if perhaps he met her at a charity event or something. I guess we'd have heard about it by now if he did.

Touching poem, the only people who find this "cringey" etc are those who don't have the brains or heart to come out with this sort of stuff for themselves.

It is possible to appreciate the sentiment whilst also finding it cringey.

It is an utterly ludicrous poem. But I assume it is carrying genuine feeling.

It is, simply, Lewis.

God forbid artistic expressions by alpha macho sportsmen. Who do they think they are, people with feelings?

There once was an F1 driver from Stevenage...

Who tried his hand as a pianist...

The haters all groaned...

Talentless they moaned...

But Lewis was simply a realist

Limericks are meant to rhyme on 1,2,5 and 3,4.

(yes, boringly serious post)

There once was a lad from Stevenage,

Who was once under Rons tutelage,

Now he has a hot seat,

Can he take the heat,

Or is he a Great British Cabbage.

I am no poet (clearly) but it fits the "rules".  Partly inspired by Vettel and the "cucumber" thing.

There once was a man called Fernando

His surname happened to be Alonso

He fell out with a team called Ferrari

And probably had a lot of whisky (one night)

He went to McHonda did Alonso

Everyone thought there was hope

But instead he just couldn't cope

Bye bye to F1 he said

I'll drive some Indycar instead

McHonda was his all time low

That was the story of Fernando

Hopefully more poets will appear in this future classic of a thread.

Poetry is my new found quest
I'm serious it's not in jest
Some try to steal my drive
don't even bother, soon I'll bag title four and five

I'm obsessed with the guy in red some of you stress
I'm the fastest, the greatest I couldn't care less
Others can have nr 1 status all they want, right
I'm Lewis I'll still put on a fair fight

Teammates run away and quit the sport in fear
or are too afraid to meet me on equal terms I hear
I'm not perfect but I can do poetry quite well
you think you can do better, go to hell
