Many people say: Today F1 drivers are not that funny than in former years. They say more like they should say and not what they want to say.

But I am sure there are some funny, nice quotes by the drivers, team principals or whatever this year.

For example a conversation between Hülkenberg and Magnussen:

Nico: "Again the most unfair driver of the race"

Kevin: "Suck my balls"

Also there were many funny radio sayings by Alonso.

'If he [Vettel] wants to prove that he is a man we should do it out of the car, face-to-face' - Lewis Hamilton

I could have married Lewis when he said that.

Funny? Nothing so far. A crude insult and a grade-school dare.

I think its more to do with the definition and threshold of 'funny' that has changed. Things we laughed at 20 years ago now are a little diluted; and if done again we are immune to them.

Nonetheless, the classic funnies IMHO that will stand the test of time are Murry bonking Mansells head when interviewing him; and Kimi having a $hit. Real classics.

"They overtake me from 300 meters from behind."

"Where is Palmer?" / "Karma"

The most legendary ones. The karma one sounds slightly ironic too, considering, who was speaking.  :p

Also considering he retired a few laps later :)

Alo: "have fun, and take care of my car please"
But: "Ok, I'm gonna pee in your seat"

Max to Ric "No"

Ric to Max: "Vaffanculo"

Daniel has to be the funniest guy on the grid by a country mile

That one's from 2014 though.

'Bwoah....'

And that one's just boring by now.

"WHERE'S PALMER?!?"

Utterly pathetic and childish but also ridiculously funny and memorable.

I can't help it, but another classic from Alonso - "Hulkenberg was right!"  And he was right about that one!

The "we can't seem to have any luck" from Raikkonen at Silverstone, was not funny but quite accurate.

"Karma!"

"i'll pee in your car"

"Suck my balls"

"Danyil did a nice job there!"

"I like them vulnerable!"

"he should stay in the reporting stuff"

"What a mental guy!!!"

Verstappen - "I don't want to be sandwiched"

Raikkonen - "I don't want to be hit"

I noticed today that Verstappen always says the same when Jack Plooij interviews him in Dutch prior to the race. He always says “Let’s get a good start and we’ll see what happens.” They might as well not interview drivers prior to a race then...

The problem is Jack Plooij.  If the input is ****, the output will be **** too

Susie wolf made a good point about drivers been very vocal (I think she highlighted Alonso) on the radio when passing or getting passed by other drivers, she has a point, it's very rare we see a pass that doesn't think a penalty is required by the stewards.

I don't understand the last part of your sentence, but it sounds like it is smth that is completely false.

F1 drivers all too often sound like twelve year old school kids, but hey! To each his own.

This. Plooij is a totally incapable clown.

Plooij is a pretty intelligent guy, has a PhD and is a practising dentist. TV presenters aren't talking to the slightly obsessed viewers that like to frequent the Autosport forums, but the average person who tunes in to just some of the races, teenagers who got interested because of this-or-that compatriot, or some guy who can't tell his turbo from his traction control. The people Plooij talks to also aren't necessarily all that inspiring. People in sports have such a single-minded focus on the games they play that they're not infrequently rather boring people. There are of course exceptions, but it's only later, after some reflection, that the great tales tend to come out.

Anyway, what stands out? Probably the pretty much unanimous reaction from the IndyCar regulars about Alonso competing at Indianapolis, perhaps best summed up by Kanaan: "I'm only gonna say one thing: enjoy!".

To make it slightly ontopic. The best quotes come in the heat of the moment or are being triggered by a skillid but trusted reporter. Mr. Plooij is neither.

In the non-verbal communication I often see multiple drivers having reluctance being interviewed by him. I know about his other career, but his interviewskills aren’t up to par with his intelligence. Often very biased and putting words in the mouths of the drivers and others involved. Although I appreciate your view about non hardcore fans being able to follow the conversation too, my wife (a casual viewer) finds him cringeworthy.
