So, a pivotal point of the season. Whoever gets to win this has a good run at the 2017 Drivers championship. One of the toughest races on the calendar, 61 laps in the hot humid environment. My home race and I am proud to be here to witness yet another Singapore GP.

Who can forget the day when Lewis retired and said he was going to sign for Mercedes? A pivotal point in the season indeed.

Tyre Choices for the GP this year.

Pole lap last year by Rosberg !

So far, the race has only been won by world champions or world champions to be. Will we see a different winner this year?

And who can forget last year's FP session? Track invaders these few years.

A race with at least one safety car appearance, or to put it in another way, a 100% safety car record. How can it play to the teams' strategies? We shall see on Sunday ! Overtaking is very hard here, so qualifying is of utmost importance.

Am going for the Thursday pitlane walk to see the cars. Hope to see some of you guys there!

This is supposed to be the first race I watch live, at the track.

I say supposed, as currently Scandinavian Airlines are on strike, and currently it doesn't look very likely that we will get down in time -.-

Accidentally did a race in the daylight in Singapore on the new F1 2017 game and I must say it really is a sight. I hadn't realise just how many trees and so on there are around the circuit. It's a game so I suppose you can't read into it too much but I suppose there was quite a bit of shade over the apexes,

There is no time for McLarenHonda's first podium, so McLarenHonda's first win after their reunion in this race.

I fear it will be one of three, Vettel, Ricciardo or Verstappen.

Alonso pits weirdly early, then Vandorne puts in the wall and creates a well timed safety car?

I hate this track - but unlike Abu Dhabi it does often provide a decent interesting race.

Will be interesting to see how Mercedes go. I really think if they emerge on top here, its game over for Vettel.

I think there will be a wet Singapore GP or at the very least a wet qualy

Don't know why I said this, it's a bit random I'm a random person. There's been now wet session at the Singapore Grand Prix ever (fact)

on the Palmer front it might be his last race as the next race might trigger a round of muscial chairs, Saniz goes to Renault and Gasly takes his seat if rumors are true

IIRC an FP1 session (back in 2012?) started out on inters after a downpour.

Going to be a fascinating race.....all eyes on Ferrari, expectation is they carry their Monaco/Hungary form into this one.
Hopefully Red Bull can get in the mix to spice it up a little....

To be honest, nowadays in most cases it is advantage to not have stopped before safety car comes out.

I think it's fair to say that if Vettel doesn't win this one, Mercedes will be heading for the final part of the season as clear favorites.

If Vettel retakes the lead next weekend, we'll probably be in for an exciting end to the season.

How so? The other circuits aren't going to be like Singapore. Maybe if Ferrari can win on a more average track it'll set up an exciting finale.

Otherwise Singapore could just be the kind of outlier that Monaco was in a string of Mercedes wins.

Anyway, we'll see. I think it'd be cool if Räikkönen could win another race. Why not here?!

Look at the 2015 quali result..Seb absolutely destroyed Kimi in Singapore. If Seb doesnt win this its over for his championship hopes. This is a must win for our Finger boy

True enough, Vettel is very handy around Singapore.

As for his championship hopes, I'd say the emphasis is on hopes rather than championship at this point. But Ferrari will undoubtedly see this differently and they will make a Vettel win their main goal.

Still, despite all that, I'd like to see another Räikkönen win before he retires. He is, after all, the last/latest Ferrari champion! :p

in 2015 Seb destroyed Kimi almost everywhere. The 2016 free practice times show a different picture. Also Kimi beat Seb in Monaco. I'm not counting Kimi out if he nails the setup

This is a last year of their contract and there is no new one. However there is no definite announcement that there won't be a new contract either.

Some think Ferrari already have this, I think otherwise, I have a feeling in my bones that something will happen and Merc will take a unexpected victory.

Would it signal the end of the WDC chase?  maybe.. we'll see.

1. The FIA notes that the @F1NightRace track has been resurfaced around Turns 1 and 2, "plus a 100m section after Turn 5."

2. Also resurfaced are "some areas between Turns 12 and 13 and a section around Turns 15, 16 and 17." And the pitlane is 27.5cms wider!

What's unexpected about that? They are dominating right now, don't believe a word that comes from Mercedes or their drivers, they know the rest of 2017 is theirs

Surely just a 4-way fight as Merc is merely an underdog at this race. Or so they said.

The sort of dominance where another team has a faster car one race ago and the same other team takes a 1-2 in the race before, yeah?

For the championships sake we need a Vettel win with 3 other cars between him and Hamilton to give Vettel a decent lead with the up coming races.

no chance anymore, I think

Vettel and Hamilton are on the podium the rest of 2017 unless DNF

Until I see practice I don't have much confidence in Vettel/ Ferrari. Mercedes wasn't happy about being embarassed in Monaco, no way they are going to let that happen again, and what better revenge than to embarass Ferrari (again) in a race in which their package should dominate. Mercedes said after Monaco that their car is a bit of a diva, but after that they said they fixed those issues. I know Merc are not bringing any updates to Singapore but I have a feeling. A feeling that it just won't be one of Vettel's best days, although he has a better record at Singapore than Hamilton
