I have owned my copy of Sir Henry Birkin's "Full Throttle" since I was a teenager. I recently had a browse through and am curious about a signature in it which I have often wondered about. Probably a happy recipient one Christmas long ago but could it be someone involved in the racing fraternity? Does anyone know of a R.G.P.Heard?

A Richard G P Heard was married in Hendon district in 1941.

That would seem to make him likely to be a "happy recipient" of the 1932 book.

Richard Gerald Paterson Heard was born in India 29 July 1916.

In a 1960 passenger list, he was a Medical Officer, his country of permanent residence being Tanganyika.

I've also found him on a 1920 passenger list - aged 4 - travelling with his parents from Liverpool to Bombay on the Circassia. Father an 'executive engineer'.
