Yes, I think the first stint will go one of two ways (assuming Max holds the lead after lap 1): Max will either run away out front to try to neutralise any possible use of Bottas; or he will keep the pace right down to prevent Mercedes from finding a space for Hamilton and/or Bottas. Either way, it could set up a fascinating race - assuming lap 1 delivers no surprises, of course...

For me the Red Bull is glued to the track. While Mercedes is still hurt by the regulations. Most of the time it is also in specific corners where a lot of time is lost.

Last time Max and Lewis were on the front row together was Silverstone.
And Perez started from the pitlane.
On that subject, what's the record for the most pitlane starts in one season? This is Checo's fourth this season? Bahrain, Silverstone, Spa and now today.

I cant imagine Lewis/Mercedes will try anything silly. Not this close after Silverstone and Hungary and right in the lions den.
Unless Max is slow off the line I can see Lewis trying his luck through strategy instead.

The penalty is 10 seconds, there still is a lot of reason to go for a very marginal move IF you're on the inside.

Is there a race thread yet ?
no your already in it

In case of an early SC, is it feasible to switch to hards and not stop any more?
yes if you want no grip at the end but then there could be more than one so its always a gamble

You monster
Well, all things must pass. This is the second time a thread I started passed the 100 pages. More importantly: the race is happening and in my opinion it is already such a success that it is going to be around very long. I was so wrong in 2017 about the chances of a GP happening and also about how the track would be for Formula 1 car. The best 'new' track since Istanbul, IMHO.

I agree. The penalty really isn't a decentive for having a go and punting someone off the track.
Penalties are judged on the merits of the incident.
