So, this is it. THIS IS IT! Even though it's not how we were hoping for Lewis to clinch the title, but that was out of his hands today. I remember very well when Lewis got his first WDC. I was rooting for Massa that day, or should I say Ferrari? Deep inside, I knew as early as 2007 that he was above the rest of the grid, but it took me until 2009 to admit that to myself and come out as a Lewis supporter. My deep hatred for McLaren was in the way and sure enough, the latter stages of his McLaren career didn't improve my opinion on the Woking based team. But I digress.
At times it looked like he would never win another WDC and I was sceptical about his move to Mercedes at first. At times I would ask myself if luck would ever come his way again to make him clinch another WDC. Then 2014 came and from then on, records have been tumbling. Who would have though that at the end of 2012? I know I didn't.
And now it's done, after one of his strongest seasons with a car that was difficult to tame at times he has outclassed all of the WDC contenders. Completely outclassed them. What a great day to be a Hamilton-fan. No matter what the future brings, he's already one of the all-time greats. And rightly so.
