There was no failure of the car in Alonso's accident, confirms McLaren. Damage to the front wing, but nothing important.

Additional aero bits on the halo? I hope they haven't left a loophole there...

After we ban the T-Wing we'll just introduce the U-Wing.

Brilliant! Let's add more loose bits (as close to the driver we can get them) which can end up in a driver's face or body in case of an accident....

I'm amazed once again by the incompetence of the FIA, in their decision making AND regulatory convolutions.

Why FIA?

The TV cameras have to be aero neutral and a standard shape, why have they let the aero dedigners tinker with the halo (probably at a ridiculous cost as well)?

Nothing important? Maybe you should look at the right front tyre of your pic in post 2 and what that means for the suspension.

Yeah right front corner needs to be rebuilt.

Mclaren have confirmed Alonso will be back after lunch.

halo looks fugly, but i actually think it looks better with those aero bits on. maybe, just maybe they could make it look OK with mods in teh future.

That's an @F1 race distance-worth of laps already completed by @OliverTurvey. 55 laps in the bag and it's not even lunch yet 1f44d.png@alo_oficial had an unscheduled visit to the tyre barrier earlier, so the team are making a few repairs to his car now.

The halo is ridiculus enough on it's own, there was no need to add winglets on it!  :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Add an A-Wing and X-Wing and we have a Star Wars fighter wing. :p

In the OP, but it's in Spanish.

Guy is a hero, always the only one to do that during these kind of tests lol.

It's almost impossible for those bits to become detached.

You'd need to have a fairly large object or even an entire car in the cockpit area before that becomes an issue, and that ...

Oh right. :stoned:

T19. In other words, the corner just after going under the hotel.

Oh dear, even the halo is sprouting add-ons. Having flimsy scaffolding on top of a device that is meant to take heavy impacts and deflect debris way from the driver is not the most logical decision ever made.

I hate the halo, but I’m assuming these extra bits are just to help condition the airflow over the rest of the car; not there to add performance, but to compensate for the air disturbance of the halo being there in the first place.

What is with the McLaren drivers and turn 19 :p

I didn't realise the teams only have the first hour to do their own thing, then they have to follow the Pirelli test programme.
