Pearson was one of my favorites as a kid. Rooting for Petty was like rooting for the N.Y. Yankees. Oddly enough.

NASCAR Hall of Famer, Spartanburg native David Pearson dies at 83 https://www.wspa.com...t-83/1592173371Lots of early memories from my youth watching that iconic #21 duel with King Richard. RIP.
Same here. Always loved the Wood Brothers livery. RIP David.

As I wrote on TNF a long time ago, the only reason why Richard Petty's 199th win is disputed is because David Pearson ran partial seasons. In other words, IMHO, if the Silver Fox had run full seasons, King Richard wouldn't have his 200 win record.
RIP to one of the true greats of the sport.

Who ya got next week? I'm going with Kyle.

I hope Chase stomps on the field so bad that the Cup winner is an afterthought.

Yeah after all the stages, races, eliminations it may come down to one make having an advantage at the last track. Kyle's to lose IMO, like last year, unless a late yellow or penalty mix things up. Not a great Penske track which may cost them yet again, though they had qualifying speed not sure if it'll sustain during the race.

Johnson is only 2 tenths slower than Alonso in F1 car.
Does anyone know Alonso's time compared to Johnson's in Nascar car?

"Johnson then shook down the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports machine, posting a 2m14s lap time."
"Alonso admitted the NASCAR was tricky to get to grips with, despite bettering Johnson’s one-lap time by setting a 2m10.830s in the No. 48 Chevrolet."

McMurray to a managerial role in the team after Daytona? It's time, isn't it. He and Newman have been two of the biggest underachievers in the 'big teams' year after year. Notwithstanding Newman's bizarre run at the 2014 title obviously!

For me a Mustang hasn't looked like a Mustang in almost 50 years.

Didn't realise Ryan Newman got the Roush Fenway #6 seat till I looked at the entry list. Rather underwhelming, really. For me it was time both McMurray and Newman were put out to pasture.

Indeed. It's been awful being fan of JV the last 148 seasons he were supposed to drive. At least it feels like 148!

Yeah, like the Camarocab it's sports car in the front mated with a 6 year old sedan in the rear - an odd mixed breed.
Report that billionaire Red Sox baseball/Liverpool/Roush Fenway owner John Henry is interested in a stake in NASCAR. He was able to turn the Red Sox fortunes around this century after an 86-year drought, so maybe there's hope for NASCAR.....

Totally agree. Its been frustrating as hell being a fan! My biggest gripe with anything he's done since F1 was (IMO) not committing enough to his efforts to win Le Mans. Agonisingly close and I always had the feeling he could have chased it harder and committed more than he did at the time.Be nice if he actually raced more than a handful of races before throwing in the towel.
In any case...great to see him back in a stock car 👍

“FBI also confirmed a raid at the Benicia Industrial Park site where DC Solar is located. Witnesses said employees were escorted from its buildings, and business vehicles, additional personal cars and items from within the buildings were removed. DC Solar has remained closed since Tuesday.
DC Solar, which designs, manufacturers, and leases solar-powered mobile generators, also is a major sponsor of Kyle Larson’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup’s race team, owned by Chip Ganassi Racing.
Earlier this year, Chip Ganassi Racing announced Ross Chastain would drive its No. 42 Chevrolet full time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with sponsorship from DC Solar.
Chip Ganassi Racing issued its own statement: “Although we have received little in the way of facts, we are aware of the situation with DC Solar and are monitoring it closely.”
