I"m a fanatical F1 follower since the mid-seventies but really appreciate other motor sport skills. Why can't Autosport ( purchased weekly since the same ) give a little more attention to other things less commercial, i.e.  Dakar Rally? Bikes, quads, side by sides, trucks and the women's versions have been hard fought for but ignored. If you do have an informed correspondent covering this event, why do you think that the buyers of your magazine and website are not interested in these non-headline results. I must admit that this is a French organised event but they do a superb job and the film coverage is outstanding given the conditions. I'd urge Autosport to become less parochial and become a true follower and reporter of world motorsports rather than just being a lip-serving commercial enterprise.

Ahhhh...The day of the magazine, it's almost dead I have to say...yes I remember the days of when they reported on all motorsport in their magazine...

Sadly even for an 40 something old  git like me has to get with the times! costs, manpower etc! 5 quid 50 per month is nothing, then you get all Dakar you want! but if you really wanted Dakar! why were you not watching the Jean Louis Schlesser inspired eco race to Dakar?

In this day and age Schlesser kept the Dakar Alive... not the half baked american **** that Sainz won!

The most remarkable thing about his post is that andyfellow registered on the forum in June 2005 but didn't post until now.

Take a look on the forum.

Take a look at how many posts there are about other things.

Then take a look on how many posts there are about F1

There is your answer.

"... give a little more attention to other things less commercial"

Magazines are struggling while focusing on commercial things ...

Magazines struggle because they do not write enough content, and have not done for many years.  People want to read and feel they are getting value from a journalist, not skirt around the edges

My tuppence: I used to read the magazine on a regular basis (more-or-less every week) since 2007. However, I stopped buying as often last year, partly due to my dissatisfaction with F1 (same reason I hardly read F1 Racing these days) and partly through feeling I wasn't getting much for my money. I don't know if it's true or not, but it certainly feels like there's less to read in it than there used to be, or less worth reading. And it's true that the main feature will, more often than not, be about F1.

I do still like the specials Autosport does from time to time. The CART retrospective they did a few years ago, and the Super Touring one were among my favourites. The wet weather masters once was good as well, and I always enjoy the Christmas double issue. Perhaps Autosport should consider a revamp, and switch from being a weekly to a fortnightly or monthly publication. I'd start buying it again if there was more to read (not just race reports) and less about F1.
