Will the English announcers for the races (not testing) be the same as last season?

It is unknown at the moment. Initially, they said the Sky commentary is only a temporary solution, but based on the wording of their latest announcements, they will propably stick with it for now.

Thanks! I'd like that. In Germany, they're switching from RTL to Sky Germany (Sky wasn't broadcasting F1 last season here).

A sport worth billions and they still can't sort out a fully operational streaming service after a year of trying? 😂

So I'm watching the "Day 1, session 2 & review show" and all I see is Karun Chandhok talking into a microphone but there's no audio, apart from when they're showing on track action. Do we in Belgium seriously still get no English audio, even in the review show? Wish I had taken up lip reading lessons...

I think they cut the sound of this particular point at some stage because the commentstors were chatting about having to pee etc. at some stage when interviews should have been playing but weren’t and we were looking at a black screen hearing them talk. Probably just a one off.

Yes, no sign of 50/60FPS in near future either. Both with live action and archival stuff.

Is anyone using it on Win10/Edge ? Seems to put quite a bit of load on the CPU .. HLS doesn't seem to be working properly because I got a few errors that its not supported, where it clearly is by the browser.

Otherwise its really great.. i've never enjoyed 1st day of testing more than I did today

I see so same issue on safari.. Hopefully they get it running on a more efficient codec at some point. Mobile app is indeed great, I wish they would port it for windows as well, though I doubt it since they got rid of the live timing app last year.

Is the live timing subscription separate from tvpro ?

I did not have any problem with Safari and Mac OS X 1014.3 and 10.14.4 beta 2 using it with an iMac Pro, a MacBook Pro 2018 and a basic 2018 Mac mini.

I thought that at first as well, but when I loaded it on the workaround there was audio. So it's definitely still blocked.

For other Belgians I double checked in the chat this morning and no feedback on whether we'll get Dutch audio either:

Me: Hi, are Belgium getting Dutch or English this season? Yesterday I was trying to watch the show after testing and all I could see was Karun Chandhok talking with no audio. The only audio I got was when they were showing cars.

--- Chat started ---

Agent: joined the chat

Agent: Hello!
Thank you for contacting Formula 1!
We cannot offer English commentary in Belgium just yet due to contractual agreements in place in Belgium

Me: Any idea on when? Also, the Netherlands is now joining. Can't we get Dutch from them then?

Agent: We're constantly trying to get around these restrictions, but as you can imagine, it might take a while for us to legally sort things out in your country
I suggest keeping an eye on our website at formula1.com for any future updates

Me: Sure I can imagine, and I do keep an eye on it. But what about Dutch? More than half the country speaks Dutch

Agent: We do not have an update on Dutch commentary either at the moment
We hope we'll have more info to share near the start of the first race in March

Or even using a VPN and non UK credit card work?

That's a little odd, isn't it? Considering what is being offered for other sports.

So far its working very well for me. On both laptop and android app.
Is there a way to change video resolution in mobile app?
Its great to have high quality while being on wi-fi but while being outside id like to reduce resolution to 480p or 360p (i have limited package of data transfer).

This is the problem with most of these self-adjusting streams, they'll conform to your network speed but not your data cap. I've only been able to reduce resolution on the web player by digging in Chrome's developer options and throttling the network speed for the tab to either 1 or 1.5 Mbps. :| Don't think you can do it on mobile easily without having another device in the middle to control your speed.

Not watching F1 in 60fps is a huge deal tbh... I subbed for the onboards mostly ;)

Yeah, onboards were terrible all year long in 2018, I think it's a huge technical challenge for them to have 20 streams not lagging. I am yet to see a single onboard stream without stuttering, freezing and sound issues on F1TV.

Is it freezing for anyone else when tabbed out? I mean just the picture, the sound continues smoothly.

Edit: never mind it's fine now.

Unfortunately it's difficult to find the full live races vs the highlights.

It would be a nice addition to have a full & highlights filter menu

The platform seems just very poor when their free stuff is 50fps on Youtube. No apps for anything

I am going to say that the test broadcast this week has actually been a good idea AND one that was executed rather well production-wise. Even with the limitation of only about 8 or 9 camera positions on-track (certainly way less than a race weekend) plus pitlane cameras. I know they haven't confirmed anything for the next test week, but I hope they got enough viewers to be persuaded to broadcast week 2 as well. :)

It worked pretty well all week.  The only problem I had is that the commentary on some sessions sounded like David Croft.  If they could fix that bug they'd have a good start on the season...
