But then i grew up on 3am Aussie starts to kick off the season.
I almost felt like this year did not start until round 3.

Mugello was bought by Ferrari somewhere in the 80s if I am not mistaken. It was by Enzo's wish to own a second track to properly test at. A track that was longer than Fiorano and housed all sorts of corners. And in my book; they own the best race track in Italy.

Monza has a nice atmosphere and is still a viable track, but Imola should not be on the calendar any more, it’s just not possible to race there with modern cars. May as well race as Brands Hatch.

All you’re suggesting to me is that F1 should be racing at Brands Hatch, which I’m all for.

I really wonder how massively out of comfort the current generation of cars would look when they are dancing down from Paddock Hill to Surtees. Heck, even on the main "straight" they would look like they are taking up half the width of the track. To my imagination that is, because Brands is not a circuit renowned for its width.

Current cars are narrower than the cars of 1986, so have a look at those and get back to me on that.
I think current cars would probably break the 1 minute barrier at the track, and that’s with the slower corner modifications at Graham Hill, Westfield and Sheene’s (Dingle Dell Corner) that have been made since the 80s.
Brands Hatch, in 80s configuration, was my favourite track in F1 2013.

They should use the 'indy' version. Would be fun

It wouldn't be much worse than Zandvoort to be fair.
(a lot better actually... although realistically neither, nor Imola, should be anywhere near an F1 schedule in this day and age).

Forgot about that. But the FW11 was having a wheelbase of 2,794mm. 2024 cars have a maximum of 3,600mm as wheelbase. This is some 800mm of difference. Current gen cars will still look humongous on Brands I think.

Id really love to see that.

Not when viewed from the front, and considering the track width.

Made me laugh at Spa, i was at Bruxelles corner, only could get a full car on my camera with minimum zoom setting.
Those cars are really long.

And the paltry 20 car F1 grid would suit the Indy circuit.

Yes. But when do you look at a car dead center head on?

This was an issue even back in 1997 already. Either it was the length of that generation of cars, or my photographical skills. And I cant imagine it being the latter

Most of the time. Most TV camera angles are pointing up a straight before following the car through a corner, and trackside you’re onto seeing the car side on at the moment it passes you.

Hmm, off the top of my hat there is only one camera angle that I can think of that is fitting this description, and that is the low angle camera at Stowe. Otherwise you always have an angle that show a bit of the side.
But lets not get bogged down into details. Fact the matter is that I really think the current generation of cars would not fit Brands in a charming way.

You talked about width, so I was only pointing out how they’re not that wide. I think you’re being unnecessarily difficult about this given the cars are normally shown from the front quarter and that masks the length.Hmm, off the top of my hat there is only one camera angle that I can think of that is fitting this description, and that is the low angle camera at Stowe. I think they’d look epic at Brands Hatch. After all, they don’t look overgrown at similar length circuits such as Hungaroring, Zandvoort or Mexico City or Interlagos.

I've loved Imola since it's been Emilia Romagna GP.
I guess 20 years ago it was hard to love Imola since it didn't look particularly different to other tracks + was hard to pass, but now it looks very fresh and green in comparison to others. And lack of passes isn't any worse than 100 DRS passes. Also the circuit profile feels better now.

I have never understood the love of Imola as a track, great location and atmosphere but it's a terrible track. In saying that, if they have the space for more run off and can turn some of the chicanes into proper corners, it would be excellent. Lots of potential.

It became a lot worse once they added those awful chicanes at Tamburello and, particularly, Villeneuve.

Location, atmoshpere + a fantastic sequence from Tosa up to Piratella and then down to Aqua Mineralli.
Preferably, I would keep all three tracks in the calendar, rotating two of them each year.

Isn't mugello owned by Ferrari? I would think money should not be a big issue there if there is enough demand or the powers that be would want it to happen
Money will always be an issue. If the income is less than the outgoings then they are not going to throw money away just for the sake of it.
