Thought it would be nifty to share a race I did in career today at China, driving for Reno.

Mixed conditions in Q1 meant that despite going P10 with only 90 seconds left on the clock I still ended up getting the boot in P16. I had a decent start picking up a couple of positions on the opening lap and then overtook a few more cars to be P10 by about lap five. While everyone else around me started on the ultra soft with two scheduled stops, I went for a one stopper, starting on the softs and going to the mediums. Shortly after the front runners pitted there was a VSC which strangely caused them all to pit again and quite miraculously I found myself in first place.

I had about a 5 second gap to a train of Bottas-Raikkonen-Verstappen behind me (Hamilton and Vettel qualified poorly, Ricciardo retired), so just managed the gap until the window opened up for my one and only stop. I came out and set the fuel mix to rich and tried to run on high ERS deployment as frequently as I could to ensure that I had a pit window to come out in front of Bottas and co. Fortunately I managed it, by about two seconds, but their faster tyre meant I was in for some fun. Ocon retired and the safety car came out with four laps left to go which I thought would be my saving grace only to have the nightmare of cold tyres to contend with on the restart. Just narrowly holding off Bottas and Raikkonen who were embroiled in a battle of their own, I stupidly opted for the outside line going into the hairpin on the final lap, which let Bottas in, but fortunately I stole the inside line for the final corner to grab my maiden victory.

Multiplayer is a big mess! The game is stuttering as hell, cars randomly turn into ghosts and of course, there is at least one Dutch kid in every server playing as Verstappen crashing everybody out.

I have like a D license despite trying to race clean because there is always someone spinning in front I cant avoid or when I can avoid I get done for overtaking illegally.

I dont mind having contact but there should be a no contact race option.

Sure would make defensive driving pretty pointless though. Just quali laps to the end.

Im just saying have the option not to take away what we currently have. And defending is great until you get an idiot who just wants to drive into you.

I can appreciate a good dive bomb. What i cant appreciate is someone who uses you to brake amd then its you that ends up spinning

The driving standards online are *really* bad. The amount of start crashes is hilarious and sad at the same time

Just in case anybody likes to wait for sales - and a new F1 season - F1 2018 is available on Steam's Mid-Week Madness today for £11.25.

This is what enticed me to finally buy it on Steam last night. Started career and did a bit of practice before I left that to do time trials for a bit. Really fun game and a huge improvement over the last Codemasters F1 game that I played (which was probably 2012 or 2013). My only gripe is that, while the game runs silky smooth for me, I have these random hiccups every 1½ to 2 laps where the game hiccups and sort of freezes for about half a second, which is often just long enough to mess me up and send me off the track. Hoping my computer was just being a jerk last night and it runs better today, because I was really having fun.

Certainly very solid compared to F1 2017, which I thought was a bugged mess.

Appears F1 2019 will also have F2.

Alert Alert!   --Incoming rant..   be warned!--

I've been busting a gut to finish my 100% career mode before my bday on wednesday (when I get to play with my new toy, xbox one and forza)

So I had 8 races to do to finish my 10th year and end my career in F1 2018.   Eight races do in the space of three days, but I did it..  I actually finished it today

but oh man.. OH MAN am I p....d off about it and royally miffed.

After 10 seasons, 210 100% race distance races, do I get a nice 'happy retirement' cut scene?   Do I get balloons and champagne?, did I get congratulations?, did I get any effing thing at all?  anything?

NOT A PISSING THING, NOTHING!!!

I won at Abu Dhabi and got 4-5 mins of rolling credits and then it dumped me out to the main menu.     Reloading my game just prompts me to create a new career.

Nothing.. seriously?  nothing at all..   not even a 5 sec cut scene?  not even a list of how many races/titles I won?

NOTHING??

Yes, I'm all twisted and bitter about it now.  hahaha

I haven't ever done more than 3 seasons in these games, and that's usually at 25% or 50% race distance depending on the track. You definitely deserve some kind of notoriety from the game for doing 10 seasons, especially at 100% distance!

I'm currently starting my 3rd season with McLaren but I just can't be bothered to continue, especially now that the Super Formula cars are in Gran Turismo. I say this every year but I doubt I'll be buying the next iteration of this series.

My respect! After 2 seasons of 25% / 5 laps I was totally done with it!

I only ever do 50% races. Life's too short. The thought of doing a full 100% season, let alone ten.....respect.
