As I wrote in another thread, Mrs E has coughed up nearly £16,000 for us to attend the Monaco race on an ultimate VIP package for my 70th - and I am already almost wetting myself with excitement as the day approaches.

On a different note altogether, I was indulging in my second most favourite online activity, searching for cheap airfares. We have to go to Sydney later in the year to visit my brother, and I found an amazing business class fare from Cairo to Sydney via Muscat and Kuala Lumpur: $1,550 each. Next cheapest is Emirates at double the price. The thing is though, that very cheap ticket requires a 72 stopover in KUL on the way back. So then I thought, what about the F1 race in Sepang? But then I realised that it had been struck off. So then I thought, well what about MotoGP?

Blimey. The most expensive hospitality/VIP package came to £1,100 for two. Compare that to F1: paddock club tickets come to between £4,000 and £6,000 each. I am gobsmacked. And regular grandstand tickets are so affordable, and from what I can see anyone can wander through the pitlane at certain times over the weekend, at no cost?

Apart from that, I love watching the bike racing on my blurry computer screen, almost more than F1. So I think I am going to book that air ticket!

Well, there is another Mr E, and he has left a legacy which you have just discovered, Mr E.
