Absolute bobbins.

Painfully generic. But I don't know why I expected anything else.

Absolute bobbins.
There's worse bobbins out there in the wide world of sports broadcasting:

Sounds like a rip off from Trevor Rabin's Deep Blue Sea sountrack.
Here's something to cleanse your ears with

Blandly generic.
It would have been a better idea to re-record The Chain, with an orchestra.

Of course it's going to be generic, it has to work for all races and in all parts of the world.
I have no idea why F1 needs a theme, but all right. I suppose this works well enough.
This will play under the start replays?

Presumably about every 15 laps under a highlights reel

Same applies for the Champions League theme and they did a cracking job.Of course it's going to be generic, it has to work for all races and in all parts of the world.

Maybe it's generic, but to be honest for an intro you need something a bit generic. It's very dramatic, so for cutting in video it will work really well. As a professional music producer myself I can say it's very well produced, withholding any opinion on taste.
A thousand times better than the "Just Drive" Sky F1 intro that's for sure. That song gives me spasms every time i hear it, and not in a good way...

They just reworked a century's old song called "Zadok the Priest" and added some chanting. It works, but original it is not.

True enough.

All i can hear is "We will be back right after a short break!"

Yeah I know..hence I support Risil's proposal of a rework of Bach's magnificient ToccataThey just reworked a century's old song called "Zadok the Priest" and added some chanting. It works, but original it is not.

For years this is what Hollywood has sounded like. Generic and forgettable.
I'd take a John Williams' style grand theme with huge hooks any day over this.

The car noises they've randomly stuck in the theme all sound like they're at half throttle.
It doesn't feel like a very fast theme song.

What was wrong with "the Chain"?

I like Brian Tyler because he did Assassin's Creed Black Flag awesome soundtrack, but this F1 theme is quite lame... except the part between 1;10 and 2:30 which I like.

What was wrong with "the Chain"?
I'd guess that it's viewed as too Anglo-centric (is it really associated with F1 globally?) and a 40 year old Fleetwood Mac song probably wouldn't fit their new target demographic.

Well that's purely nostalgia, because if I had to describe diarrhea musically, this is what I'd end up with

The theme tune sounds like it would fit in with any modern FPS game.
Reminded me of this, only no where near as good.
Also love the fact the engine notes sound more like the V8/V10 era then the Hybrids, lol.

They really should - that piece also makes me think of this scene from The Great Race, so the links to motorsport are solid.

This music evokes so many responses. I'm trying to decide between "utterly unremarkable", "totally forgettable", and "just sucks". It's not an easy call.

I feel a Thrash Metal Therapy course coming after that meandering, utterly conventional dirge. Liberty needs a new research department as they clearly seem to be a few miles from F1 Culture and History.

Yeah I dunno who they're supposed to be trying to attract with the new music, if anyone at all.

Buy a "tune" by Bach? I thought his copyright ended a couple of centuries ago.

LOL. A modernized electronic version would be cool. They wouldn't need to buy it. It's been public domain for a few hundred years at this point.

So bland and generic... reminds me of the movies in cinema these days... Why can't we make classics like the 80's and 90's anymore?
