What are the odds on TR hitting double figures before the end of the year?
High, I'd say. Although, if they alternate changes between the two drivers, then they might just keep below.

Honda haven’t had many reliability problems. Their strategy is simply that if the car qualifies at the back then best to get a free engine with little penalty. STR can do this as McLaren did before them because they don’t pay for the engines. Customer teams don’t do this because each engine over the three they’ve paid for over the season would cost them a significant amount and none of them have the spare cash to make such a move worthwhile.I think that's probably true. Honda clearly still have reliability issues but not as bad as last year.
But the FI/Williams reliability is strange. Are they just running turned-down PU settings compared to the works team?

It's fair to say that we may not have seen many reliability problems from Honda simply because they are not running their PU for its full expected lifetime. I don't think anything can be said either way about Honda's reliability.

Possibly but then Renault clearly has reliability issues that don’t need much mileage to manifest themselves...
This is true. They made a lot about how they were being cautious about improving performance so as not to affect reliability. Yet, it seems, they have not really increased performance that much, but have reduced their reliability quit a bit.

Is it correct that the new units for Haas and Sauber are a further along development than Ferrari's? I.e that the two customer team are on an engine 1 step higher up than the Manufacturer?

TR is fine, it makes sense to introduce even minor upgrades to see how they preform, it’s still very much a test bed year for Honda in prep for RB coming in.
Ah, the B-ist of the B teams. When they were Minardi, they might have been a bit rubbish but at least they had their self-respect.
Pity that Renault don't try the same with Red Bull. 'Here's the latest spec PU, Christian' Kaboom, and it's over to Max for his comments '**************************'

The only thing is that Verstappen has been on 3 turbo chargers since Canada so surely he will take one more.
I'd say Hamilton and Vettel are in the best position but it will be a stretch for them both and unfortunately for us, they might not be pushing at their maximum in the races.
Posted 25 August 2018 - 20:35
Hamilton, Vettel, Force India and Williams are the ones that most likely don't get penalties. By calculating by races the third parts should have been taken in next race but I'm pretty sure that they use the new more powerful engines in this and next race because they need the power and then return to old engine for less demanding Singapore.

Going on past history, I would think the Williams cars are the most likely to complete the season penalty-free. Perhaps Force India too.

There seems to be no regulation for what happened to Ocon and Perez. They have now driven for "more than one team", but they are not replacing anyone.
I guess that just means FIA can do what they want and probably continue the count to this new team.

Ah, you could be right. The FIA have published two update documents. One of those mentions Max updates, the other doesn't. I assumed that the latter was incomplete and superseded by the former. I guess it was the other way around (who'd have thought).

True. Never said it wasn’t. But the reason Hulk gets a new engine this weekend is because he’s at the back anyway. Same reason as why Toro Rosso took penalties. And to top it off, they’re a test bed for RBR this year anyway. Abiteboul’s comment are just silly.Well... 9 is less than 11 I guess...
