Herd mentality and a stab at political correctness by all the others.

Yes electric and hybrid cars are (unfortunately) our future, but the politicians of the world are setting impossible goals, case in point.

Denmark is currently in the midst of an election, all parties are falling over themselves in appearing more climate friendly than the others with statements of all Diesel cars being banned from anywhere between 2025 and 2030, with a goal of 1 million electric cars on the streets by 2030....

And what are the numbers.

  • 2018 about 270.000 new cars sold in Denmark mix of gas and diesel
  • 2018 there were 1548 electrical cars sold
  • All electrical cars are sold at a discount, less taxes than on a regular car - currently 20% discount.
  • Some years ago when the taxes went from zero to match gas and diesel cars the sale of electrical cars went down.
  • If you ware to serve 1 million electrical cars with loading stations in 2030, you have to build 230 new ones every month from now on.
  • Denmark is currently getting DKK 80 billion from the car taxes, the electrical cars are being 'sold' by the various parties as no tax, instead replacing by a CO2 use algorithm.

It is a fantasy all over the world that electrical cars is happening now, I know it will happen eventually it will not be by 2030.

It would be interesting to see a political party stand on a platform of delaying the introduction of electric vehicles for as long as possible - I wonder how well they would fare? All too often there are many parties to choose from but all have the same policies.

One of those running in Denmark have a policy of 'the market will drive this'.

Do you not think the regulations if those parties get in power, would help accelerate the process?

In any case what does this have to do with eSports lol

If Ferrari left, there would be so much prize/rights money to distribute over the other teams, they'd happily run 3 cars each.
A 27 car grid. 9 of them the top 3 teams.

Please raise your hand if you'd not watch that.

Absolutely nothing, I thought I was in a Formula E thread. To question accelerate yes, just no way they can meet their lofty goals by 2030.

Its the hypocrisy though. How many people vote based on green statements and yet wouldnt buy electric.

I once had a colleague whod moan about someone putting the lunch box into the non recylcing bin and yet would fly back to portugal every other week.
