....apparently my Nike should be out in the FFord race at Silverstone today, if anyone manages to get a pic of it, I'd love to see it.
Proper spectacle

The Classic FF1600 race saw a three-car blanket finish, with Benn Tilley winning from Scott Mansell by 0.016 sec, with Rick Morris tucked in behind.
I was standing on the line at the finish and couldn't tell who'd won!
Kent-engined FFs still rule for close racing!

You weren't alone, Tony - Benn and Scott didn't know either, until they were told on the podium. I was there both days and Sunday's second encounter was almost a carbon copy - Benn was second gong into the final corner and drafted past to win by a relatively comfortable 0.022s.

(Morris is a veteran and stalwart of the category, and is often remembered for his defeat of Senna at the Silverstone Finals meeting.)

Went on the Sunday. Sunshine, woods, hills, a series FF races each with thirty contestants, apparently supplied by Rent-A-Loony, what's not to like?

For those not so familiar with the FF1600 scene in the UK, the oh-so-close-in-third Rick Morris is not far off four times the age of the winner Benn Tilley.

I was wondering if it was THE Rick Morris - fabulous!
And about Scott Mansell - Mansell, Mansell... sounds familiar that name, any connection?

I don't believe they are related to the more internationally-famous Mansell, although they come from the same part of the UK.
Mansell Motorsport are a fairly busy racecar prep business.
I think Scott still holds the outright lap record for the Brands short circuit - with a 'EuroBoss' formula ex-F1 Benetton.
On-board footage from race winner Benn Tilley:
(He was leading until Scott got the better of back-markers about 10 minutes or so in; unfortunately no glimpses here of Rick Morris who was right behind all the way to the flag.)

Scott is the son of Kevin Mansell, who was also competing at the weekend.

Scott Mansell was very quick in that Benetton (seen here at Mallory Park).

Rick Morris raced an Royale RP26 last year in Crompton livery, run by Don Hardman. I think the Royale was written off and replaced with an RP29. Great to see him back and still quick even if he is in his 70's

I heard that Rick was trying to keep pics of the wrecked RP26 'out of circulation' for fear his wife might see them.
Still a real racer at heart!
When I first ran my PRS in 1982 I was testing at a wet Donington. Rick Morris was out at the same time in the works RP29 and came flying past me coming into Coppice. I watched in awe as he balanced the car on the throttle with very little steering movement and controlling the slide with the rear end. A fabulous lesson in car control. I gave it a go and promptly stuck it in the gravel trap!! In those days I had a bit of money and not much talent. By the time I stopped 12 years later I had a bit of talent and no money. Such is life
