Even though GT3 and LMP2 have become quite a bit faster in the last 5 or so years, they still seem to be in a pretty good spot where they're fast enough to be exciting and racey, without requiring the kind of skill and talent that you'd see at the sharp end of - say - F1, Indycar or LMP1. And of course: quite affordable as far as racing cars go.
The result? Huge fields! It's great.
And look at that, all make it through T1 without crashing. Take note F1.

I like how LMP3 is shaping up as well. Great place to start your endurance career as a ambitious youngster. And the cars are terrible fun. ^^

The FIA/ACO's obsession with full-course yellow/safety cars when there's an incident at just one (!) corner, and then not even on the track, is really annoying.
But hey! They've only wasted half an hour of racing time...

It was a shame that there were so many safety cars in the first half of the race, as there was plenty of good action to off-set some of the more clumsy or just unfortunate moves that resulted in said neutralizations.
Sadly those meant the overall story of the race wasn't that interesting, but it's hard to beat LMP2 and GTE Am cars when it comes to on-track action.

Damn, nearly forgot about this race. Been a slow Sunday. Still nearly an hour left for anyone interested. Cheers

Just caught up on the race - some good action. It's such a huge and fun field full of great and competitive cars.
I get why not everyone likes what LMP2 has become, but given that LMP1 exists for the WEC, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out for these regional series.

Nearly an hour late because of a nap, but I'm ready for more ELMS action. Eternal thanks ANF.

Rusinov on a charge!
Good fun so far.

Did the SMP driver get told off for crashing under yellows when there was a breakdown a lap before?

I did not forget about this. This is my main race of the weekend. I am so in the mood for some endurance racing.

This is such a fun flowing track, and the LMP2 cars are making the most of it.
If Indycar ever wants to visit Europe, this should be the place to go!

It's a bit of a shame some of the prominent entries have hit trouble early on, but this is still a good and fun race.
I understand the criticisms, but as far as on track action and competitive fields are concerned, LMP2 has become one of the greatest series around today.

Whatever criticism people had about the ACO/FIA going with the current four-chassis rules (and the mandatory Gibson engine), the results have been good. Multimatic/Riley missed the boat, but Onraok (Ligier), ORECA and Dallara haven't.

Great finish to the season. Lots of good battles for all manner of positions, and of course a nice home-race winner.
