"we value your privacy" - apparently not

- blocks the ability to go to the "full version" of forums;
- blocks the ability to post in forums;
- offers only the possibility to agree or to "get more information."
This is
- invasive;
- coercive;
- offensive.
Strongly suggest that it be discontinued or reconfigured.

If you press the button to get more information, you can refuse all of the optional cookies and press OK.
The notice will then go away (you won't see it again unless you choose to from section 3.2 of the Cookie Policy) and you won't be tracked by any of our advertising partners while you're on the site.
This does mean that you'll see slightly less relevant/personalised adverts while you're on the site, but I'll leave you to decide whether that's a good thing or a bad thing!

Clarifying the term to pitch the cookies is "Deactivate All."

Why the hostility? How more transparent did you want the site to be? Click more info button, read info, select choices, move forward.

By giving only the choice between "Accepting" and "Read Information" the developers hope as many people as possible will accept, not knowing there actually is a deactivate button hiding under "Information". I know this is standard practise for website developers, but it only shows whom they value most - and it is not the reader!

Which can't be selected...
Looking more closely, I think I misunderstood. "Deactivate All" seems to be off because when I open "More Information", the default setting of every option is "Off". In which case, clicking "OK" from within the "More Information" box will disable the "personalise content and ads" etc. function. DO I understand that correctly?
Also, is there a way to change these settings at a later date should I have a change of heart?

To clarify, have NO objection to the presence of ads anywhere on the Autosport site, including the forums.
However, my objection (and the "hostility" described by YG) was occasioned by a >seeming< departure from previous Autosport policy in terms of the the ability to "opt in or out." It has since become clear that while actual momentary obstacles to "opting out" were real, they were in fact momentary and by no means insurmountable.
As such, my happiness and satisfaction with the site have been entirely restored.
Thanks again, Grayson.

I neither know nor care about the ins and outs of cookie policies and hereby grant Autosport the right to spy on me to their heart's content: I just want to comment that making a user of your site click on anything - for any reason whatsoever - before they can proceed reading whichever forum they wanted to visit, when for their previous 10 years here they did not have to, is a fantastic way to make sure that user is less likely to visit as often in the future.
It's a one-off. Once you've accepted it you should never see it again. All tied in to the EU's new GDPR regulation.
