Hi all, while researching for a model Lotus 87 I have become very confused about when Essex logos were displayed on the cars post-France.

As I'd believed it, when JPS returned to the team Essex logos were carried on silver coloured side-pods and on an oblong sticker ahead of the cockpit. But I have found that this was not always the case through to the end of the season. (I believe it was something to do with ongoing legal actions and/or cash flow issues, but I'm not sure.)

From photos online I have worked out the following, but I never fully trust online photo captions, and so I'm not sure. Can anyone help with first hand verification, please?

(And if the real true story behind the disappearing logos is known, I would appreciate all the gory details...    ;)  )

Spanish GP. JPS black & gold bodywork returns but with Essex logos on chrome sidepod sides and nose sticker. (Tea-tray front wing.)

French GP. As Spain.

British GP. Courage logos instead of JPS, but otherwise as Spain.

German GP. ‘JP Team Lotus’ instead of JPS. Essex covered by chrome or black tape on both practice days, but back for the race? (Still tea-tray front wing.)

Austrian GP. Full JPS logos again. Essex logos missing for practice again, but raced with them. (Now separate front wings from hereon.)

Dutch GP. As Austria. (Mansell had black inlet ‘ears’)

Italian GP. As Austria, possibly. (Essex logos on & off apparently randomly) (Mansell inlet ears again)

Canadian GP. As Austria.

US GP. Race was definitely without Essex logos; practice unknown. Mansell without ears.
