Primarily, it sounds like he'll live a normal life again!
I had no doubts honestly, but webtheories abounded that any good living was done.
Go, Niki!!!

Thank You very much, everyone. While I hesitated diverting from Niki, Rob's last comment about mountains lit a fire.
With your gracious comments, I feel a bit more empowered in knowing my book may have a wider audience than I might have realized. Sometimes the individual battles fought during the process can diminish resolve, and my country has become a bit callous about healthcare, so I really appreciate this.
Sounds like CP's and Eric's recent events have been really hard, too, so I'll add you guys are also inspiring. Sounds like Eric got a bit luckier than Sandy was, and for that I'm happy for him. It's tough to feel "lucky" in such times, of course. I used to joke that she talked too much but would give anything to have that back.
My heartfelt regards to you all.
Very sorry for your wife and you. Strokes are strange things, many are severely invalided,or even die, most have to learn to talk and walk properly to some degree and yet others are back at work in a couple of weeks. In recent years I have known too many people having strokes.
And the medical fraternity are sometimes are a real part of the problem. 3min medecine at GPs to 'specialists' who are plain incompetent.
Like too many I have suffered botched surgery. Though orthapedic in my case.

And much love in the direction of the moving Westfalia cave, too, E1pix!

Yes, this could become a big concern. Let's hope for a swift and full recovery.

New medical statement: Apparently Niki Lauda is doing better. His attending physician denies reports that Niki Lauda has pneumonia. He has an influenza.

I have seen no other reports of pneumonia, only reports of flu...and several reports that the hospital expect Lauda to be released on Monday. Fingers crossed....we want the rat back.

Fingers and everything else firmly crossed for him.
I imagine he's quite a 'challenging' patient, due both to previous damage and non-submissive attitude, so I'm also sending supportive thoughts to the attending medics.

A "non-submissive attitude" is exactly what you need to survive anything like this, I speak from experience.
Go go Nikolaus, gute Besserung!

I understand from Karl Holzinger that Niki was due to attend the celebrations for Kurt Bergmann's 90th Birthday in Vienna this weekend, but is unable to be there as he is ill. I don't know the details.
Given how angry he was at being given the Last Rites after the Nurburgring shunt, I can imagine he will be most displeased at missing the party.......

Rest easy Troops, I suspect there's no new illness since then. Even a skyscraper needs some shade from time to time.

Race in Peace, Legend. I'll always remember your "anything is possible" lesson at Watkins Glen in 1976.
