I'm visiting Spa this weekend and I'm wondering what might be the best day to see some teams arriving there. Saturday or Sunday?

When you say team do you mean the whole team or the drivers?

The teams usually arrive earlier in the week as there is a lot of work in setting up the garages and hospitality areas. Cars have to be ready for scrutineering on the Thursday, and everyone is there for FP on Friday.

I can't give you an exact answer, but in 2015 they were already setting up in the paddock the Sunday before the race. I imagine they start coming in Saturday/Sunday morning. There is a good footpath that goes alongside the circuit where you can see some of the pit garages and parts of the circuit, particularly the Bus Stop. A good place to see teams from all the categories arrive is at the Stavelot entrance to the circuit.

It's pretty cool to be around the track in the build up to the race weekend and you'll most likely bump into team personnel around the local villages and towns. In 2014 I was behind a group of Sauber mechanics in the Stavelot Carrefour and in 2016 we bumped into some ART mechanics in the same shop.

All the trucks are neatly parked up round at Pouhon, Mercedes and FOM had about 40 between them when I was there

I usually set up camp at the Blanchimont tunnel. This is the only entrance for trucks and lorry's so it's where the teams trucks arrive. It's pretty cool to see them arriving there.

I have walked quite a bit around the circuit in de past few years but I haven't really discovererd a good footpath yet. Any idea where it starts?

If you're on the Stavelot side, you can access the footpath opposite the road that goes down to Camping L'Eau Rouge, on the old circuit. It goes through the trees, so you can't see all of the circuit but you can see the Paul Frere corner and the Bus Stop clearly. You can also see the pit straight quite clearly too. The footpath ends in Francorchamps, so if you don't want a long walk it is easier to park in Francorchamps and access the path from that side.

Just as a follow up to this. I went on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, I saw that Williams already had arrived (strange: they had Czech numberplates?), and also Torro Rosso. There were also some Merc trucks form their logistical partner Schenker (on German plates). On my way back home I crossed a truck from Red Bull. Then on Sunday, I saw a Mclaren truck parked next to a Williams truck (this time with UK plates) and again on my way home I saw a truck from Renault.

In all, not all that much activity... but still I got to inhale some F1 magic dust :)

I saw several FIA trucks in Luxembourg on Friday driving north, so they probably already arrived a whole week before FP1.

Seems like a vague question but i've watched the vast majority of drivers at Silverstone drive themselves in ( over the Wellington Straight ) on the Sunday around the time the F2 race was on so presumably a similar time Sunday at Spa?
